Why do some People consider most Rap to be...... ? |
Why do some People consider most Rap to be MUSIC when it actually seems to be TALKING ??? ------Why is some Rap so inaudible & unintelligible that many People often ask " WHAT did they say ? " ----and/or ---" WHAT did they mean ? " after they listen to some Rap ??-----I am NOT hating on Rap by asking these questions but I don't understand how most Rap can be considered Music when it has virtually NO melody, composition, notes or song as Music does ?----Music is a SONG that is either SUNG or PLAYED with or without INSTRUMENTS.--- I would speculate that 99%+ of Rap is NOT SUNG or PLAYED WITH INSTRUMENTS.---It seems apparent that most Rap consists of rhymed lyrics which are TALKED. ----Is most Rap TALKING LYRICS or is most Rap SINGING MUSICAL SONGS ??---Why is it apparently so difficult for so many people to understand what some Rappers say or mean ??-----Why is it that some People are UNABLE to AGREE with each other on what a Rapper says or means in a certain Rap ??--- Unintelligent insulting answers only serve to confirm the perception that some Rap in unintelligent & insulting.--I am merely questioning some elements of some Rap.- i actually can't stand rap. i think rap is in no way music. To me music is something with talent and the flow of music notes. Not some guy/girl that might have had a bad day and decided to say how hard or tough they are and talk fast in a mic using terms everyday people don't understand or will use. To me its kinda funny that most people try to act like rappers don't live in rough neighborhoods but rather the burbs....why is that Oh, come on. You know good and well you didn't really want anyone to give you honest answers to your questions. You just wanted to hear from somebody agrees with you and is just as closed-minded as you are. Why am I not surprised. Report It in my opinion, rap is a poem whatever homie. i don't feel like readin all them shits. It sound like to me that you wish you were hip hop homie. But your not, so instead of embracin the shits, you wanna bash it. But hip hop loves you homie. just chill on them shits. preciate cha. I am not a rap fan. The most I will listen to is Outkast (Andre 3000's contributions, most of which is not even considered rap) and Saul Williams (who recently worked with Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor). Some rap is garbage! especially this new stuff. older rap like pete rock, roots, etc is good stuff...most of it today is a bunch of stupid lyrics over bass...then again i say the same about some rock..it too has some lyrics that are violent and screaming you can't understand over a tune...then you have classic rock like foreigner, cars, def leappard that is good stuff...so in every category you have garbage!!!! Don't like it? don't listen..i do it on all radio stations. change the channel!! Well to say that Rap isn't music is like saying some of the classic songs that are made with synthesizers aren't music. and you use commercial rap and generalize all rap into that catagory is not fair, pick up some Aesop rock.... you'll see that when you rap ro the beat you are in a sense the instrument, because that is really all your voice is we make the noises that we associate to words, and when these noises are harmonic and melodic we call it music. but when you listen to the commercial stuff that is out there you assume that it is all about talking and talking about stupid stuff(which i agree) but if you catch some underground rap it tends to be more melodic and (when people really care about the music) a better put together piece of art.. hense.. music... I've seen many people rap before, and I just thought, well if they can't sing, then why do it?' I'm not trying to be accused being mean, but I am telling the truth. Many rap because it is usually fun and entertaining, but other times, it's their thing. Rap is actually using 'free verses' like a poetry, except differently. Rap sometimes include break dances, too. Most rap songs don't need music, they only make their own. if you know what RAP stands for then you would not ask this question. You are getting music confused with singing. Rappers are rapping, not singing to the beat of the music. If there is music in the background regardless of whether or not it is played with instruments or music making instruments it doesn't matter if a person sings, raps, talks, yells (as they do in heavy metal) or whatever, it still falls within the music category. There are many songs in all genres that are inaudible and unintelligible that I often ask "what did they say"?. Not just in rap. Once again, the definition of music has nothing to do with a song that is sung or played with instruments. Music is different sounds together producing a melody. If one chooses, he can sing along with the music. Just as a person can sing A Capella, without music. People don't always agree with what a rapper says or means in a certain rap song because each person interprets and hears things differently. Also because certain terms/words have more than one meaning. That is true in LIFE, not just rap music. You can see a movie and discuss it and learn that others that saw it, got a totally different idea of what was being expressed. You can read a book and discuss it and find out that others think differently than you. You can listen to any type of music and hear different things and get different messages. It seems like you enjoy listening to rap. So do I. You obviously have not listened to enough rap music to have an objective opinion. Most hip hop songs have a melody and all rap songs have a beat and rhythm. Why aren't you asking this question about death metal and black metal? Death and black metal singers don't even try to make their lyrics intelligible. Most metal doesn't even have a beat or a melody, just a variation of rhythms and chords. There is a difference between rappers who can flow and write lyrics and those who can't. You should go on YouTube and watch some videos of hip hop producers producing music. Many hip hop producers are accomplished musicians and produce on a keyboard instead of sampling. Hip hop is the most popular dance music and you can't dance to sounds that aren't organized. My definition of music is organized noise no matter how the noise is made. You can actually compose any genre of music these days on a computer without playing any instruments. I don't think anyone can understand what the lead singer of Fall Out Boy is singing without looking up the lyrics. iThug is back. Rebop... It is Rebop isn't it? hey babe is that you can't wait to see you tonight i like rap! Just for clarification purposes, here is the official definition of music from dictionary.com: Their are three elements to music:Melody,Harmony,Rhythm I agree. Rap has its place but its basically violent phrases kept to a bass beat, nothing more. rap is crap .. I know what you mean, I like real music, I consider real music to be music with skilled vocals and instrumental elements! |
