Why is Rap Music the most targeted genre of music?

Why is Rap Music the main target for a lot of people on here?

Ok, rap music may not be your "style", but that doesn't mean you have to call it crap or say it's not music.

I'm sure rappers don't like country or jazz. But they don't start topics about it, just to hate on it. No one forces people to listen to rap music.

So if you don't like it, don't listen to it. Listen to different radio stations, download different songs, buy different CD's, but don't target it just for the hell of it...

I'm not victimizing myself. Rap isn't my favorite type of music either.

I'm just wondering why so many people are curious to target it.

its the vulgarity of its content that people target. Rap is my favorite genre of music, but the lyrics are horrible(degrading and cheap) Im sure there are plenty of rappers who do like country and jazz. I agree with ur last statement about getting into different music instead of targeting rap. You have to look at it though....how many other genres of music glorify a thug mentality, promiscuity, drugs and violence?

I was an eemcee / producer since I was 12 and I quit last year when I became 23. Here's an honest opinion. Rap music is the worst kind of music, you have all these monkeys running around saying how they got this and that, calling women ho's and saying how they gonna shoot you up when in reality non of it is true. Thats not whats the bad part. They dont have music talent and there only objective is to write decent lyric's which the majority of them cant even do that. I dont believe rappers should win grammys because that should be left up to the real musicians who take there time to practice there instruments and songs, not make a beat in 3 minutes, sell it to a dude whos gonna basically TALK over it.

And I am real passionate about my HipHop, my girlfriend works for Universal / Def Jam and she will give you the same answer.

People target subjects such as music, movies, books, tv shows, games, etc. mainly because they dont have an opinion about anything else. If I were to say, heavy metal is the way to go, there would be some who would disagree with me, but a majority of people would back me up. Why? Because when people have something in common with someone else, they want to share their point of veiws, and honestly if someone disagrees with it, most of the time they dont find it worthy to argue about, so they dont say anything. Some do ofcourse, but not the amount of people that agree with you on a subject.

Same goes for when someone says they hate something. Since rap music is the subject here, lets say that if you reworded your question to saying, "I hate rap" you would get a massive amount of replies from people that would agree with you, while the ones that didnt agree wouldnt say anything because arguing about something as small and trivial as an opinion of music isnt worth their time.

Hopefully that made sense, but there are many people out there who hate rappers as opposed to rap. Just like there are many that hate singers, but not the actual style of music. They just say they do because they need something to fill in their day and feel good that they voiced their opinions. Hopefully this made sense. For the record though, I appreciate all forms of music, anything from Classical to Death Metal, from Hip Hop to Crunk. If it sounds good, I'll listen to it, afterall life is driven by the music we listen to. If you only listen to one type of music, it shows that you are more close minded than anything.

It is the most targeted because it supports values such as "hoes, cash, rides...". There is of course good rap and bad rap, but the bad shallow one is the one that seems to take over nowadays. "Artists" such as 50 cents use rap (which was once upon a time used to deliver positive messages) for lucrative goals.

Rappers are knowledgeable they do not have to work so hard , they earn a living with there brain , there mouth,not like most of the people who does not have the gift they have without getting there hands dirty .
