Eminem's mom says he lied about his childhood?

"Debbie Nelson says her son Marshall Mathers III invented his "trailer trash" upbringing to be accepted in the hip-hop industry.
In her tell-all book "My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem", Nelson reveals: "After his first album Infinite flopped, he reinvented himself as white trailer trash with a crazy welfare mom. I was shocked when I first heard the lyrics - but he constantly reassured me it was all a big joke. I went along with it for Marshall's sake."
Nelson insists she is now tired of being criticised for her supposed poor parenting skills, and has written the book to "set the record straight".
In the book Nelson further claims that Eminem was so jealous of her boyfriend he wouldn't let them sleep together on their wedding night and he physically attacked her on his 23rd birthday. She also says Eminem is a manic depressive and was so "strung out" he can't remember much of 1999 - the year he first married his childhood sweetheart Kim."
what do you think about that?

i dont think it is all true. he refers to actual situations alot in his lyrics that sound hard to make up, but then again he is one of the best mc's so who knows? if you think about it though she knows, obviously, that if she put out a book like that it would sale very well. so maybe she is the one fabricating the truth...

why would he want to make that up? what about his "brother" ronnie?

If it was not real, he would have been exposed by now from the people who knew him b4 he blew up. So I think his mom is lying.

Well, there are two sides to every story. I don't doubt that Eminem has exaggerated some of the stories about his upbringing. The way he acts sometimes reminds me of a spoiled little mummy's boy. But at the same time, the whole rap/book/suing her son stuff makes it pretty clear she's not exactly mother of the year material.
I think they probably both believe they're telling the truth, and that what really happened lies somewhere in the middle of the two sides.
