Anybody else like Gothic Music?

By which I mean the (mainly Euro) progressive metal/female vocal/doom sound? I keep hearing more and more stuff by various groups and I like so much of it it's amazing! There's a line of compilation Cds called 'Gothic Spirits' that keeps blowing me away with each new disc. The thing is, other than Evanescence, (newcomers to the scene) most Americans and NOBODY I know has ever heard of this stuff. It's a real shame how tightly controlled U.S. radio is. You have to go to the 'net to hear new sounds. One group in the States that I have heard of is Echoes of Eternity. Look them up, they rock! Are there any other gothic rock/metal fans around in the U.S.?

I totally agree with you about the radio in the U.S., they play no goth and very little industrial music... which is ridiculous. My favorite goth rock band is London After Midnight, based out of California. I also like Clan of Xymox, Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, The 69 Eyes, Type O Negative, Elis, Faith and the Muse, etc...

I've dabbled. I love Opeth, that's my favorite goth/metal band.

the only ones I could recall being remotely goth are Type O Negative, Lacuna Coil and My Dying Bride

evanescence is ok, but they're just the tip of the iceberg so to speak.....
