Which band rocks the hardest: Rage Against the Machine, or System of a Down?

Rage Against the Machine, how can you even compare the two?

System of a Down for me. At least most of the time.

RAGE!!! RAGE RAGE!!! against the machine!!! long standing...yeah!!!

I love them both, but I have to go with Rage Against the Machine. Daron Malakian brings SOAD down a notch with his annoyingly slow voice.

Rage owns SOAD.

RATM, SOAD is a bit weak. RATM are angry for all the right reasons!

I'm gonna have to go with Rage on this.

I am a bigger fan of SOAD's first album than I am a fan of anything by Rage, however after their self-titled album they went waaaaaaayyyy down hill, at least in my opinion. To me they stopped doing what they did best to be "melodic" and popular. Which they did with a good amount of success, but to me I can hear how watered down and impersonal their music became. At least with Rage it's had a stamp of integrity the whole way through. Even if a lot of their songs became similar sounding and they did that cover album, at least they did what they wanted to because they wanted to, not because they had a weird song played on Kroq unexpectedly and decided to take their little ball of success and run with it.

Rage Against the Machine. Great band, even with rap as vocals, which I generally despise (although I suppose rapping vocals work quite well with funk metal for some reason). I would try some more System of a Down stuff, but I'd rather not have my ears bleed. The screaming is just downright terrible. Plus, you can't beat the creativity of Tom Morello, not to mention Rage has a great rhythm section as well as lyrics! What's ironic is that the guy who introduced me to Rage Against the Machine also introduced me to System of a Down.

i would say that rage were certainly more talented musicians (except for the drummer, S.O.A.D. is better) but their style was more funky and groove-***.

tough one!!! i think i have to call it a draw--they both rock really damn hard though....

I personally like them both , yet if i had to choose it would be Rage against the machine because they've been at it longer than SOD.

A tougher question would be, Which of those 2 groups is more communist? LOL.

I donno, Rage raises my anger while SOAD makes me laugh...one gets you ready to beat up enemies while the other makes you savor the taste of terracotta pie.

How can you even compare the two?? RATM > SOAD!! Simple as that!!!

BTW: To the guy who said Avenge Seven fold is better....you better learn a thing or two about music!!
