What the hell has happened to Linkin Park?

I heard their new single on the radio this morning. Until they said who it was, I thought I was listening to The Feeling! Linkin Park used to rock, when did they get so sappy?

they tried something new with this album they were tired of their old sound. they were trying to mature and evolve to something better.
its was alright. the shadow of the day is a nice song but yeah it doesn't sound like LP but its still a good song.

Yea that song is horrible. To me it sounds like they are trying to keep up with the styles but are horrible at it. Unless they are going to put something good out there they should just give up and retire.

I'll be the judge when I go see them next month, yeah their newer stuff doesnt seem to have balls like their older stuff but some bands change but it shouldnt put a true fan off, they'd just rather be sat listening to hybrid theory.

I read an article in Entertainment Weekly about why Linkin Park kinda fell off. The article said that when "rap-rock" died out, they felt they needed to leave it behind as well, which is wrong for them. They need to stay true to themselves and their sound. Only then will they return to their formerly rocking selves.

But yeah, right now they kind of suck.

I like the new cd actually.

Even the first song from the new album I thought sounded pretty dull in comparison to their old stuff (and the video looked like it should belong to U2 or someone).

i don't know what happened to them, but i do not like it, on their new album they have like 3 songs that rock, chester needs to get himself back to the vocal state of meteora and the hybrid theory.

It's true that their old stuff is off the hook, but I have to admit that I like their new songs as well.

I'm not a LP fan but Shadow of the Day is a great song..probably the best LP song I've ever heard.
To answer your question, they grew up. Nu Metal is dead and they are finding their own sound, much the way Incubus did after their first few albums.

They wanted to leave behind nu metal, but they made too much of a change, ditching rapping and turntables for pop that might show up one day on Grey's Anatomy.

Bands need to change gradually...RHCP, Nine Inch Nails, KoRn, just a few example of bands that have changed their styles over the years. LP just tried something their fanbase was never prepared for...if they changed it up slowly, perhaps LP would be a little more praised...added in more rap formats and stuff.

I think the new song is great and rock doesnt have to be noisy but youre right i like songs like numb and wat ive done most

ya i know what you mean. at first i was like ''omg i dont think i'm gonna like the new LP'' but the album grew on me and i love it.
Lets just hope their next album is more metal yea!

i do agree that they have changed so much but i like the new stuff as well. i think it is good they tried some other stuff, they were not afraid to "experiment" but its just my opinion.........

Just because it sounds kind of happy, it actually has quite sad lyrics. Like Bleed it out or Faint.
