How does one actually watch and listen to the band at a Metal gig?

I decided to go see Paradise Lost, I wanted to watch the band and decided not to drink, or to headband or singalong, but as soon as they started, I couldnt help it! I started headbanging and singing along, probablyt pissing of some people because they dont want to hear MY singing! Do people get pissed off by people headbanging and singing at concerts? I wanted to be quiet and watch the band 'objectively' like a reporter but I got caught up. I thought if I didnt drink or do drugs or dress up (except for a PL T-shirt) that I could do it, but it wasnt the case. How do people SIT and watch a band like on telly? (Even on Telly I want to headbang and sing!) I dont think my voice is better than vocalist! How do I do this?

With their ears normally. Ive never seen some one stick theyre bum in the air and complain about not being ble to hear anything.

if everyone can hear your singing then the band is really not loud enough. also, if the music doesn't move you, then it probably sucks.

I love to go to concerts and rock out!!!! You stand in the back if you don't want to mosh. Sing as loud as you can! So much fun!!!!

That is part of enjoying the show. You don't go to a show to sit and watch, you go for an experience and that involves head banging and moshing and whatever.

who cares if you're annoying the person next to you, just get in the circle pit and go crazy!! as for singing too loud, big deal - i always sing along at concerts and if people don't like it, they can move.

If you are singing, you already know the music, so just do what the music makes you feel.

I think thats the point of a gig - to enjoy the atmosphere. If you just wanted to listen to them, you could stay at home and play the CD.

Although if you really want to just watch, try getting seated tickets where possible. Its hard to watch a band standing up - the view's not perfect, and people around you are getting really into it.

If you're just sitting, you're not really that into the band.

I can't stand still at metal concerts, and to hell with what anyone else does.

I was at a gig for a small band once, and I was the only one rocking out. everyone else was just hanging back, head-nodding. I rocked out.

Afterwards, the band members came up to me and said "thanks. It's good to see that at least someone's into the music."

Forget it Bro! You are in the show! Metal is not just a type of music its a lifestyle. I play in a touring metal band, weather on stage, or in the crowd its almost the same rush. That rush you feel that makes you want to headbang, sing and play air guitar is the reason all of us play music to begin with.......the rush.......and the Ladies dig it!

F*ck the other people who payed for the show. You payed too, and as long as you're not punchin em in the face or drinkin their beer, why should they care, man. I LOVE seein fellow music fans go nuts at shows. Especially if it's a band you love, man goin nuts is part of the experience.

If you didnt jump around and just stood there like a statue you would be a douche. But because you actually get into it that means your cool. When I was in a band, whenever I saw someone just standing there, I would say something like "when this next song starts, I wanna see all you mother f***ers start the biggest circle pit right over there" and would point over at the douche bag.

Bands dont want people just standing there. It brings the vibe down. Dont worry if you cant contain yourself, its normal

Well....if everyone else going crazy, you go crazy! just dance, sing, rock and mosh. No one cares at those sort of gigs, you're there to have fun and not let anyone else bother you. No one can hear your singing anyways so belt it out loud!
