Why did The Beatles wait so long to do a reunion ?

Only after John Lennon die, did the remaining 3 members finally get back together & record a couple new songs.

Why didn't they do it years before ?

Well, this info might give us some indication of why it never happened. Read On...

According to Jack Douglas (he produced Lennon's final album "Double Fantasy") The Beatles were planning their reunion when Lennon was murdered.

Douglas revealed that Lennon and McCartney had been actively talking about such a project.

Douglas also claims Lennon's wife Yoko Ono blocked a Beatles reunion.

He adds, "Let's just put it this way - Yoko discouraged Paul coming around."

"There was a writing session somewhere in the Dakota (building where Lennon and Ono lived) and there was one cancelled which John did not know about. He was told that Paul did not show. Paul was told that John was too busy to be working with him that day."

Fact or Fiction? You decide!

Because after years of fame, several Beatles had very big heads and were difficult to deal with. They weren't too fond of each other after breaking up.

Many speculate reasons.
Yet Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono could never get along.
Think above was reason.

Boston rocks

SNL did a parody of the 3 using the 'track' of Lennons answering machine to record a 'new' song. Ha! Anywhat, John, despite his great talent, was an emotional rollercoaster, adn not always easy to get along with. Cant put all blame on Yoko, without then isulting John for being weak.

I think there are a few reasons.
The beatles broke up about 71 and john died in 80 thats only nine years. John and Paul had only spoken a couple of times before johns death. Nerves may still have been a little raw. Everyone in the beatles were working on solo carees.
Also the beatles had to stop touring because crowds were to big and they were worried about people getting hurt. This might also be a reason.
I really think that there hadn't been enough timebefore john died.

I don't really consider "Real Love" and "Free As A Bird" to be a true reunion. First off, the tracks were Lennon demos -to be blunt, rejects, otherwise he probably would have recorded definitive versions himself during the "Double Fantasy" sessions. Second, it's not a real big secret either amongst Beatles insiders or even diehard fans themselves that George Harrison was practically forced into participating in the "Anthology" project against his will (the main reason he did at all was to recoup some financial losses over Handmade Films.) George himself (Krishna rest his soul) said it: "There will NEVER be a Beatles reunion as long as John Lennon remains dead." Third, I suspect that the main reason the 'new' songs were done at all were to boost sales of the "Anthology" CD's (let's face it: the majority of the stuff on there is either total crap or pretty much disposable either way.) McCartney was the prime mover behind the project, and Macca has spent the majority of his solo career exploiting his success as a Beatle. His whole attitude/image is, "Hi!!!!! Remember me???!!!! Paul McCartney, former Beatle???!!!"...why do you think his concerts are 80% Beatles songs these days? Long way from the first few Wings tours where he outright refused to play Beatles songs, isn't it? Ringo...well, Ringo will do whatever he has to just to stay sober. Sad, but true.

I think John Lennon said it best when, after being pestered relentlessly about it during the 1980 Playboy interview, "Why on Earth should The Beatles give MORE????! You've got all the all old records, be happy with that," before finally muttering outright "All this Beatles talk is boring me to death." Even if he hadn't've been murdered and they did reunite in 1981, let's say, either for a tour or an album (or both), there's probably no way it would have measured up to what they'd done before. It would have been the most anticlimactic moment in popular music history.

It's like all the Zeppelin fans drooling over this upcoming "reunion" concert and the possibility of a tour...there's no way it'll match up to the glory days, even if John Bonham was still alive. Face it: generally speaking, with age comes a decline in ability. Even if it's a good show, it'll never compare with the old days. Look at the Stones..."The Greatest Rock And Roll Band In The World"- thirty five years ago. Nowadays they need seventeen million backup musicians on stage with them just to play songs they could probably play in their sleep. Honestly...would we really want to see The Beatles end up like that? I didn't think so.
