It definitely does!
I start drooling the second I see a guy in a Maylene and the Sons Of Disaster shirt... ;)
And once, I dumped a guy, because he told me my music taste was crappy. (As if listening to Foo Fighters and Tenacious D 24/7 makes him so much cooler than I am...)

But the point is, usually if they listen to the same music as you, they have the same taste in other things too. It just makes for a better match.
I just like having as much in common with the person I'm with as possible, even though others might say opposites attract. It's different for every person.

Probably, I'm attracted to people I can have decent conversations with (looks don't really matter) and music makes up of what I talk about. Now the real challenge is finding someone my age that listens to the same music as me....

I don't think I could go out wiht half of the guys in my class purely because they have no musical taste whatsoever. I'm not saying "Their music sucks", I'm saying "They hear a song on the radio, download it, keep it for three months, delete it, repeat this process", which I can't stand! It's okay to download one song if that's all you like, and it's okay to like pop music (I do both occasionally), but where has the appreciation of getting a new album, and being able to hold it in your hands gone? (Even though I'm young I love to buy a new album and put it in the CD player and the whole feeling is great :) )

So, yes, musical taste is vital and makes me like you. I judge on musical taste, and appearance to some extent, no matter how superficial that sounds.

If someone is into the type of music I am, more than likely there will be an awesome connection because metal people seem to be pretty down to earth if ya ask me.
No into all the makeup, tight clothing and looking pretty.
