How to write rock songs?

Has anyone got any tips on writing Rock songs or developing your own style. My main influences are people like Axl Rose, Gerard Way, David Draiman, Liam Gallagher, Jared Leto, mainly modern teen bands as you can see. But any tips anyway????

Have you listened to enough music of all times? Can you really play an instrument? Can you play it in a band? Can you really sing? Write about the things that you know and follow your instincts. Don't be kitsch, don't be repetitive, don't be too simple, don't be too complicated, don't be commonplace. Be persistent. "Your own style" will come in time if it ever will. Good luck!

Some people get into the studio to write, and they write as a team while others write independently and then try to blend it in the studio.

Do what Lamb of God did. Go into a room with a rubber floor and dump gasoline on it. Then stay in that room until the lyrics come to you.

I write too.
My friends say I'm good.
I don't think I ma though.
But, yeah I usually write about what come to my head.
I try to make things rhyme.

Write about stuff everyone could relate to.

Learn to play an instrument. It can help immensely when you're trying to come up with melodies.

I learned how to write songs from Axl Rose (and many others).

Basically, make a list of all your favorite songs of all your favorite bands, then analyze those songs. Look at their structures; intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus, etc. Look at the patterns of rhythms and the way lines are written; when to use rhyming, when not to. After you've found the elements of the songs you think are the greatest, apply those elements to the music you want to write yourself.

You should write songs that display your talents. If you can hit high notes, you should include high notes in the song. If you finger pick some chords, you can add that to your songs.
Also, sexy lyrics can sell a song.
