Radiohead!!!?

Oh my god.

I am addicted to Radiohead. And I feel pretty stupid because I had In Rainbows on my iTunes for a while without loving it that much, just thinking "it's a pretty good album, 7/10"

Then I listened to it again.

They're now like my second favorite band.

Anyway, I know I want to get OK Computer, because that's supposed to be their best. What other album should I get to start out with? I heard that Kid A is good, but it might be nice to get a more recent one? I don't know. All I do know is that Radiohead is god.

It seems like The Bends is their most mainstream album? And Kid A is more experimental? Alright.

My favorite song by them that I've heard is 15 Step, followed by Karma Police, followed by Videotape, followed by Nude.

Go by mood. All albums are great for the fall/winter season.
The Bends is their warmest, most comfortable album.
OK is more complicated, darker.
Kid A and Amnesiac are equally dark & melancholy. Amnesiac is more rainy-day though.
Hail To the Thief is like combining Rainbows with OK and the Eraser.

Kid A is the hardest to get in to. I'd get HTTT, then OK, then Bends, then Kid A and Amn. at the same time. Really any way is fine though.
glad to know you're obsessed!

edit- i just realised i completely ignored Pablo Honey. See, I heard that album lastly when I was getting into them and I wasnt hooked. so maybe saving worst for last is not a good thing.

Radiohead is amazing :0) I remembered I was overwelmed by how much i loved them when I first started listening to them. OK Computer is the way to go, it is a great album and very easy to like. The Bends is also great for a beginner. Kid A is my favorite (or second fav) by them by it's harder to like and takes a few listens, so start off with OK Computer move on to The Bends, then Kid A, then Amnesiac... I'm not sure where to but Hail to the Thief, it's also pretty easy to like. Actually all their stuff is amazing. Cept Pablo Honey, that's just good..

hail to the theif: (a few good rock songs with lots of electronic ones as well)
go to sleep
there there
a wolf at the door

the bends:(the best album and songs to start out with, very alternative rock)
high and dry
fake plastic trees
street spirit

OK computer: (filled up with great songs, not unlike a landfill)
let down (their best song)
karma police
paranoid android

kid a: (electronic, experimental)
idioteque
everything in its right place
how to disappear completely

i would stay away from amnesiac until you are a solid fan, not that it isn't good
in order from best to least best: (2-4/5 move around a lot)
ok computer
kid a
hail to the theif
amnesiac
in rainbows
the bends
pablo honey

Idioteque is the best song by them ever.

I went from earliest to recent. Radiohead is a band that has evolved intensly with each album and I think it is best to evolve with the band. I find it best when dealing with a band that has been around a while to start at the beginning and treat it as if the other records haven't been released yet. It is up to you to release every album...start with Pablo Honey and whenever you feel through with the album release the next. Its kinda fun and you don't end up skipping through their music. No matter what path you choose just makes sure you DON'T CREATE A MIX. Listen to the full albums, don't just listen to each once and than pick 2 songs u like from each to only listen to. The band HATES the death of the album...that is the new age of mix cd's, ipods, so on. And i agree...Radiohead albums deserve and are made to listen to front to back. Damn your in for a journey...I wish i could go back and listen to everything for the first time again...oh and when ur done...listen to TOOL...if you haven't yet.

If you were going to ease into Radiohead, I would suggest that you go with OK Computer, then KID A, and then tackle the rest. OK Computer is very accessible and in my opinion their best work. Once you hear the track "Subterranean Homesick Alien" off of OK Computer you will be hooked. Good luck and be very excited because you stumbled on a phenomenal band.

It doesn't really matter where you go. The first album I got from them was Amnesiac, which is their least accessible album. And once I digested that.... I loved everything. So I'm quite sure anywhere you start will be a road to success. And with that being said.... if you had to choose one go with OK Computer. Because it's their most grandly beautiful and sweeping album!

The Bends
