Why is emo so AWFUL and metal so much better?

Please, no emo is good crap, be honest with yourselves

Because all it is is a bunch of whiney kids who didnt get enough attention or dorks who got made fun of in school and cant let go of teen angst from 10 years ago and they have no talent at all,they need to put down the blades and haul it into on coming traffic and give it a rest,it has no heart or integrity like metal not to mention the talent levels are'nt even comparible,it's just another fad that'll wear out while metal will still be running strong as it has for the past 4 decades,it's like the piper to these kids who are so desperate to be a part of something,metal just has what it takes to stay strong and it's a testament to what is true,we're the most loyal fans and it's our way of life,we live it we dont just try to be what we see on TV just to fit in,it's who we are like Hatebreed said "If you dont live for something you'll die for nothing--I LIVE FOR THIS" it's in our blood and it comes from the heart,it's not a "scene" it's a lifestyle and it's real,when it's long gone we'll still be here in the pit with bloody noses and our horns up in the air,immovable stone in the world of the weak,we're wolves among sheep

I agree with the due below me about not all metal being good. I don't even tread into emo so I wouldn't know if its all terrible. MOST METAL IS AWESOME!!!

Why are YOU a butthole and putting labels on music? Not all emo is awful (MTV-exposure level emo may be, Bloc Party is an exception) and not all metal is good.

Eh? Emo is awesome and so is Metal. But when you combine them....

Metal: Musicians come up with original ideas,and put a lot of work to create complex musical notes.

Emo: Musicians suck,whiny,focuses on image,repetitive musical notes

thats just YOUR opinion....remember that and you won't end up being hated by many, many people. I think a lot of bands suck but i keep it to myself because i don't wanna come off as a jerk....which is you come off as....funny thing, no matter how much some emo's on here may hate metal you don't see them being jerks and posting stuff like this....just a thought.

what is EMO? EMO is bunch of guys who barely can play guitar, but sign up a deal with record companies because companies target kids from 12-17 <and those mainstream don't know anything better>

everymetal band is different. from British heavy metqal iron maiden and black sabbath to black death speed slayer, or cannibal corpse or emperor

I think Emo is awful because I just can't force myself to listen to music that makes me want to slit my wrists (which is what Emo does). All that repetitive whining about high school and their bad grades and bad hair days and how every body misunderstands their 'angst'. It's funny how Emo 'guys' closely resemble hair bands from the 80's with the crazy hair, makeup and tight pants, but even the hair bands' music was way better than Emo is now!

A good deal of modern metal makes me just as sick as emo music. Some bands are trying to faster than Slayer and succeeding, but in exchange making terrible music.

Look, emo stands for emotional. The people who wrote this music, wrote it from firsthand experience. For Example: Unbreakable(I.J.M.A) by Aiden is about one of wiL's best friends dying. Skyline and Turnstiles by My Chemical Romance is about Gerard Way experiencing September 11th. Metals okay too, but you shouldn't be talking **** about emo. How would you think of it if someone posted something that said "Why is metal so awful and emo is so better"? You'd be defending metal as much as Im defending emo music. People write emo music to express their feelings.And if you have a problem with me saying this, email me.

Depends what kind of emo you're talking about and what kind of metal you're talking about.

Metal is actual music played by talented MEN
Example: PANTERA.
Emo music (yep, all of it) is done by "boys" who don't know if they're male because the blood circulation to all parts that would prove them to be so is cut off by the size zero jeans they are wearing to make themselves look like girls. How this is attractive I have no idea.

Ahhh!!! Emo music is just horrible despite the meaning of the lyrics!!!
In Flames is metal and they have the most amazing lyrics in the world that he has been known for.. they are so deep and meaningful but yet they still have musical talent unlike emo bands. =)
But that's just my opinion..

Firstly, I don't know when "emo" became a genre or even a fashion statement. Years ago if one of my friends was acting overly dramatic we'd call them emo like it was an insult.

And secondly, maybe that's your opinion.
There's a ton of bands out there these days which people are so willing to stick the "emo" label on when really they're 1000x better than all the other crap bands they're grouped with. But because of that they get overlooked.

So, not ALL "emo" is awful.

And not ALL metal is better (in fact there's a lot of crap metal bands out there these days too).

It's a free-for-all. You shouldn't over look something because of it's label. Most often, they're wrong.
