Does anybody else think that today's indie music is just as bad as today's mainstrean nusic?

I mean what is with the weak clean-cut indie bands today? What happened to the wild noisy passionate music that was present during the 80s indie scene (i.e. Sonic Youth, Scratch Acid). I mean seriously the indie bands today suck just as the MTV garbage. Yes there are metalcore bands on indie labels that are noisy, but they suck and they just are genre bands that all sound the same.

It depends on what you mean by indie.... if you think The Strokes or the Killers are indie... then yes. But if you're accounting for bands like Arcade Fire, Beirut, Pedro the Lion, The National, etc.... I don't think these bands are doing badly at all!

dude most i'd say 80% or more of mainstreaqm music SUCKS. no amtter what music labels record companies are looking ways to bring young kids <12-17> years old because they know those kids are easy target.

Indie is slowly becoming the new mainstream music. Ironic.

Yes. Indie is now the new "mainstream rock"

there are now different category's of indie also from country to country there are different definitions types of indie
I personally love the indie music that I listen to that are mainstream like Arctic Monkeys,Libertines ,Jamie T ,Bloc Party, Fratellis etc are they the bands that you are talking about?
Cause the American indie scene is just so different then the British I cant really give you my opinion if you are talking about the American scene
