I still find southern rock music to still be alive, kids these days are kind of bringing it back, but like only one or two bands (i.e Skynyrd)

thats like asking what ever happend to the big band era.
It came and went,
im sure theres plenty of Outlaws tribute bands out there.

Govt Mule aint bad either, kinda jam/southern rock

It's still around, just not a major blip on the radar. I have a feeling that Southern rock will never die. Check out the Drive-By Truckers, they pay homage to some of the greats.

check out patterson hood's great great band the Drive by Truckers
3 guitars, 3 singers, some great bass/drums and some pedal steel.
they wrote a great album back in 2001, called Southern Rock Opera.
this is southern rock the way southern rock should be.
if you can locate it, they have a great live record currently out of print called "alabama *** whoopin'"
the live version of "18 wheels of love" is awesome.

It is alive and well...saw Dickie Betts this summer and the Allman Brothers 2 times...

As a viable genre, the last LP to hit it big was "Blackfoot Strikes".

The touring version of Skynyrd today is pathetic.

Driver By Truckers and North Mississippi Allstars are great. I don't know if Slobberbone are still together but they were on the verge of greatness while still attending U. North Texas. I still listen to their CD, especially the song "Your Excuse".
