because their music makes my brain cells work harder, their music makes me THINK. in fact the last Dream theater Cd was more heavier than some of theirs previous work.
also i have DVD dream theater and I was on their concert. these bandsyes, dream theater have something hidden which i'd call musicianship, which is very rare in many todays bands.

I'm a pretty big fan of Yes and Rush and use to be a fan fan of Dream Theater (my love dwindled a bit). I love them just purely because I love them, it's hard to explain why you love certain music isn't it? Well, for one thing, I love bands that feel free to make long songs and aren't really concerned whether the radio will play them or not because the music is more raw and pure that way. I love long songs because they really put you in a mood and you can stay in the mood without a break as a new song comes one. And prog probably has the most talented musicians of any genre. I think maybe a reason my love for Dream theater isn't that strong is because they're not too personal, it just doesn't touch me the same way, maybe it seems like they're trying to hard to be virtuosos.
I'm explaining this terribly, but I hope you get my point.

I like prog. rock, not my very favourite but its nice.
