First, lets decide to play music videos again. What artist/band would you ban from the station, and who would you replace them with. I'll go first.
I will ban Panic! At the Disco based on the fact that they sound exactly like FOB(which I don't care for), and they were signed to a label before they even toured at all.
I would replace them with Blessthefall, because quite frankly I think they're amazing and give them they're much deserved exposure.(I just hope it wouldn't change them)

Definetly add TDWP, Catherine, Chiodos, Bring Me the Horizon, Elysia, Lorene Drive, Drop Dead, Gorgeous, Alesana, Emarosa, etc etc etc
there's so much I would add..... I would get rid of Boys Like Girls simply because I don't like their music and add The Exies, because I think they deserve more mainstream exposure. I'd burn MTV down and make sure it didn't rise from the ashes. I would play music videos!! Where's my MTV?
I would ban more than one artist; P!ATD, MCR, FOB, all rap music and Kelly Clarkson
I would replace them with Duran Duran, Adam Ant, The Police, The Thompson Twins, Beck, and Depeche Mode
Oh, and I am taking out all reality shows, etc. I would play every music video, And try to never play the same video twice a week.
also, to fill up some space, I would play concert films (A Hard Day's Night, The Wall) Sync-up's (Dark Side of Oz), and music-related films (Spinal Tap), And Maybe add in some documentaries.
Maybe have 'shows' That play a certain labels' bands, get them some exposure.
I would also lock 'Tila Tiquila' in a cell and make sure she stays there for eternity. If I have to hear one more thing about that goddamn show, I'm gonna flip! I think I would bring theme shows back to the forefront of MTV. Shows dedicated to certain genres of music, played by credible VJs with actual musical knowledge. I know Matt Pinfield wasn't pretty, but he was the last VJ that knew what he was talking about.
I couldn't really ban any particular artist without banning the particular theme show. So Pop-princess countdown featuring Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and Miley Cyrus will have to beg VH1 for a home.
New Artist: There are too many to bring back before I can concern myself with a new one! Good idea. They should definately decide to play music videos again. Isn't mtv supposed to stand for MUSIC TV??????????
I disagree with the point of Panic! At The Disco. Personally, I like them.
And, when they do play music videos now on mtv, its always rap. I would make them show alot of Headbangers Ball because the only time I ever see that is at 12:00 am on mtv2.
More things like: Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold, 3 Days Grace, My Chemical Romance, and From First To Last.
Less things like: 50 cent, Kanye West, Eminem, Akon, Rhiannah (however you spell that) hannah montana (who sounds like a screaming rat on fire) paris hilton, lindsey lohan, and britney spears I would ban My Chemical Romance because kids need to stop cutting their wrists and thinking that Gerard Way is the hottest guy to touch the planet. I'd also love to ban any artist that finds it imperative to give spelling lessons in their songs, eg: Fergie.
I'd replace them with Chiodos because they are absolutely amazing and they have so much talent that is underrated. I'd also do it because I think they are the least likely to change after becoming popular. I would ban the band Elsiy, becuase i feel like they don't care about music as much as other bands that aren't even in the spotlight.
I would replace them with a band call Four Horny Boys, when they play i really feel the spark of how they feel, like they want that night to go on forever, i know for a fact that music is what keeps them all alive, with out it they would have all done suicide. However again when their not on tour they always do like small secrct shows, because, they live for playing. I'd bring back Martha Quinn, Mark Goodman & Nina Blackwood, Dr. Dre & Ed Lover to be the only VJ's...

I would replace fall out boy, which is the WORST and most POSERISH band there is, with Chiodos, Alesana, dear whoever, saosin, and a thorn for every heart.
I would get rid of Chris brown, Justin Timberlake, My Chemical romance and all that crappy teen pop punk stuff, and Akon.

This was a good question. I'd get rid of certain, commonly abreviated bands, and replace them with a mix of Classic Rock and *good* new music.
I would also insist on a switch-off time, rather than 24-hours, and the first song / vid of the day {every day} would be :~

After all, it was inspired by MTV, and was the first song played at the launch of MTV Europe! i would ban all sucky rap, r&b, bubblegum pop and sissy bands....i would replace them with more real rock bands and metal bands and show Mtv what real music sounds like, not wanna be, overplayed, talentless posers..... i would take out all of those stupid reality shows and i'd take out avril lavigne and rap and p!@td

that would be rather funny to see all of the current mtv fans watching those bands! only thing i'd ban would be the shows that don't play videos. i wouldnt ban any certain band or anything, everyone has their likes and dislikes. what i would do is play an hour of nothing but rock. then an hour of pop, then rap, than whatever else there is to play. I'd ban nobody
Instead, like every good radio station I've heard, I'd hire a bunch of ugly, music-obsessed shut-ins to each pick an hour or two of music a day. Then hire some hot girls to stand behind them on the intros and a few chimps to open the mail and I'm done |
