Why does Christian "metal" exist?

Why does Christian "metal" exist?

Music is whatever you make of it. I can read the lyrics of one band and interpret them completely differ ant than you. My brother is a religious FREEK, he can work religion into anything (I am Agnostic all the way). The only music that he allows his kids to listen to is christian. So one afternoon we pulled out some of the christian bands lyric cards and I interpreted them completely different than him (except the very blatant songs that were like "God is great! I love God!") any song that had any room for interpretation I was able to turn it around to sound as non-christian as anything! It blew him away!
Music is all about how you interpret it Christian, Death Metal, Black Metal, WHATEVER!

Because the Lord said"Make a joyful noise" even at 120db.

Maybe some people enjoy heavy metal but are very religious, maybe they want to spread their message in any way

Because you can praise God in any form of music.

i dont think there is i love hardcore metal like a7x lamb of god slipknot!!!!!!!!!!KEEP ROCKIN OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

to try to convert people without them knowing it

Who's in Christian Metal, never heard of that really, christianity and metal, hmmmm......doesn't seem to mix.

Because metal is not an anti-christian genre of music

Yes, some bands are, but most aren't

It's all about money.

Because some people love Jesus and like metal.

Well if you listen to P.O.D which is more like "rock-rap" it will answer your question. It is great. Another good cristian rock band was Creed. Just listen to the words. I am not a religious person but these bands make me feel great!

Because life isn't always beautiful and happy, but even then we have to sing to Him. Sometimes it's the genre most suited to the job.

Because Christians want us to think they are cool, and what better way to do this than weasel their way into our culture.
"See, we can rock out too, dudes. Cool, huh? Jesus is neat."
Some bands see it as a ministry, putting out music that 'lost' people can hear and like with a christian message, I guess they wanna trick people into heaven or something.

I have a younger sister and I hate listening to swear words with her anywhere in earshot, I am supposed to be an example. If she is hanging out with me I choose Christian bands for that. You would be surpised how many metal bands consider themselves Christian bands, Haste the Day (who just got done touring with Atreyu), August Burns Red, Underoath, there are so many.

Lemme tell you something... In the 80's, you had all these religious figures telling people that people like Ozzy, Dio, Iron Maiden were satanic (publicity wise maybe - not like compared to Marilyn Manson) and that the music itself was made by the Devil - when all of a sudden a band called Stryper (in their black leather & yellow ) with the song "to hell with the devil" came about....

Then it became "okay"

Whether Stryper is responsible for the Metal attraction, I don't know - but they are the ones I remember....

So even though the lyrics are about God - the music itself being heavy metal like was no longer of the devil because it must have made money for these religious figures.... They are all Hypocrites..

because god was tired of listening to sh!tty christian rock and wanted something heavier....thus christian metal being born!

Because God gave Rock and Roll to you.

idk

im wondering the same thing

because God can't let Satan have all the good music

because it shows that not all christian bands have to be boring gospel music, and they too can be good!

Wow at this question. Because they're religous and they liek composing metal music.

Because God knows most kids don't respond to hyms written 200 years ago. Because God created music, all music, Heavy Metal too! Because it's a powerful genre of music that Satan (since he cannot create) has twisted and distorted to be about sex, money, death and self fulfillment. Because it's time to declare God's glory to a generation that is searching for meaning in things that are meaningless through a medium that appeals to them. Because it helped lead me out of the darkness into the light! I was a metal head, I grew up in the 80's, partied with rock stars, owned a CD store and sold all kinds of metal (black metal, melodic, occult, etc...) My life was hollow and empty until I accepted Jesus Christ as my savior. I am thankful for bands like Demon Hunter, Stryper, Becoming the Archetype, Wavorly, Pillar, Kutless and RED...they all have the power and driven sound I like with a positive message!

Half of them aren't even Christian, just some dumb-*** people find out that one or two members are christian, and there you go, they become a "christian" band. I only consider em christian if they mention Jesus or religion in a good way.
I personally don't like the genre, I'm a death metal guy, but whatever...
