Despite a never ending recital of prayers to the Gods of all things Rock....?

.... the newest trend seems to be the release of covers albums where artists record songs that influenced them in their journeys. Well, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. If you were a musician and were recording a 12 song disc of nothing but covers to pay homage to your influences, what 12 songs would you chose?

Mine:
Dreams in the Dark (Badlands)
Panama (Van Halen)
Rocket Queen (Guns N' Roses)
Take Me (Kiss)
Too Young to Fall in Love (Motley Crue)
Season of Wither (Aerosmith)
I've Just Seen a Face (The Beatles)
Love Man (Otis Redding)
One Night of Sin (Elvis Presley)
Missing You (John Waite)
When You Close Your Eyes (Night Ranger)
A Country Boy Can Survive (Hank Williams Jr.)

i refuse to let myself be pushed into the crowd..

Good Morning Mike, interesting question.

It's kind of a mix of stuff for homage and songs I've always wanted to cover, but:

Billy Joel - Pressure
the Riverbottom Nightmare Band - Riverbottom Nightmare Band
Frank Black - So. Bay
Blur - Trimm Trabb
Elliott Smith - Christian Brothers
Folk Implosion - Waltzin With Your Ego
Pavement - Perfume V
Built To Spill - Big Dipper
Huey Lewis and the News - I Want A New Drug (a buddy of mine and I had a concept for it a long time ago to slow it way down and make it really spacey)
Elvis Costello - Kinder Murder
Grandaddy - Chartsengrafs
Nick Drake - Things Behind the Sun (I always thought that song would translate to a full band really well)

I know the way my brain works I could look at this in an hour and want to swap out like 4 of them, but at the moment...

****************
Man, there are some great lists.

I have a hidden track for it, Can - Thief. That song would be a lot of fun.

Mike!!
Rocket Queen influenced you? Yay lol.

Since he would've taken up like 4/5 spaces, I'm doing my top 12 EXCLUDING Bob Dylan.

Less Than Jake - The Science of Selling Yourself Short
