I simply love Ennio Morricone's Soundtrack to
"The Good The Bad And The Ugly"
So what's Your favorite Soundtrack from a film? One of my favorite movie soundtracks is for the movie 'Performance'... it has Mick Jagger, Randy Newman, Ry Cooder, The Last Poets, Jack Nitzche, and they were composed for the movie... A lot of great movie soundtracks are just compilations.
Ennio Morricone did some great movie scores, including for 'The Untouchables'. Ennio Morricone is awesome!
Recently I discovered the soundtrack for the movie "The Big White" with Robin Williams and Holly Hunter. The soundtrack was so awesome, I went to hunt it down. It features songs by The Eels, who I never really tried to listen to before, but after hearing the sequence of the songs, I am addicted. Also there is a song on there called "Getting Away With it (All Messed Up) by James. I love it all! the soundtrack from Step-Up....there are a lot of up-beat fun songs on there that you can just get up and dance to! Most of them are R&B or rap or hip-hop. i like "dazed and confused" soundtrack If you're talking about songs, it would be the "Singles" soundtrack. "The Big Chill" had a great soundtrack as well.
My favorite soundtrack in terms of a classical-style movie score would be from "Out of Africa" - the music in that movie is absolutely gorgeous. The score from "Vertigo" was amazing too - it added so much to the movie. OK at the risk of sounding like an idiot:
I love the soundtrack for Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet
=D Remember the animated film "Heavy Metal" from around 1981? Pretty cool stuff. I own four soundtracks:
The Big Chill
Purple Rain
Singles
Blue Hawaii
... and then there are those individual songs that blow me away.
"On the Darkside" - Eddie Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band (Eddie & The Cruisers)
"Good Times" - INXS & Jimmy Barnes (The Lost Boys)
"Don't You Forget About Me" - Simple Minds (The Breakfast Club)
"Chances Are" - Bob Seger & Martina McBride (Hope Floats)
NP: "The Crow Flies" - Brother Cane Personally, the Virgin Suicides. A really great score.

Hi Mach Pen. I'll have to check out the other version of Playground Love. I hadn't heard of that. But yeah, the score in general is just so unique and interesting. I love Dead Bodies and the Hurricane one in particular. Great other choices too. I love the Wave of Mutulation version on Pump up the Volume particularly, and I looked up the Lost Highway one not long ago when a question like this came up. I totally forgot how awesome that one was. Great stuff.

Hi Spider, Yeah Kids Soundtrack. I was just talking about Folk Implosion earlier. I likely don't even need to answer this question as it's no longer a secret what my favorite movie soundtrack of all time is.
<silence>
Oh. all right <sigh> just in case you might have missed those last few times I've given out the mad love, once more.
The Crow
Sookie - The Singles soundtrack is an excellent call. I love that Mother Love Bone song more than the entire Pearl Jam catalog. The Crow. I can't pick just one !
Buster
The Legend of 1900
Ladyhawke
The Breakfast Club
Top Gun
These are others I have *some* tracks from :~
Streets of Fire
Bugsy Malone
Practical Magic
FM
The Crow {soundtrack & score}
The Craft {soundtrack & score}
Flashdance
Showgirls
Fritz the Cat / Heavy Traffic
a couple of Disney songs
Edit :~
Cinnamon, I love that film! And I love to sing along with it!
In fact, I'm quite a fan of musicals, and should probably have added the 'shared' {my mum's} CD of 'Cats'!
{I spent most of my childhood listening to the LP}
2nd Edit :~
I forgot Now And Then ~ though I had to add two glaring ommisions to it : 'Midnight Rider', and the full version of 'All Right Now'.
And I had to add 'Keep On Running' to Buster. I love the soundtrack from the first Shrek movie Garden State If we're keeping this strictly Rock, then I only truly love one.
Prince; Purple Rain.
But, I love musical films with a pathetic passion, and I own far too many soundtracks, from The Sound of Music to Jesus Christ Superstar to Bugsy Malone ['good call' Silver] and everything in between.
I love most of them - but come to think of it The Sound of Music is probably my favourite.
The hills are indeed alive with the sound of music... -nods- Spider-Man 2
Grind All John Williams soundtracks are amazing. This guy is so talented and has composed music for many different genres of films.
Jaws, Star Wars, Superman, E.T., Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Harry Potter and many more. "Donnie Darko"
"Pump Up The Volume"
"Lost Highway"
"The Matrix"
"The Royal Tenebaums"
"Natural Born Killers"
Prof: I couldn't agree more about "The Virgin Suicides" soundtrack. I love Gordon Tracks' "Playground Love", but I think that's on the separate score soundtrack, remixed by AIR.
**Yes, and it's strictly for that reason that I love the PUTV soundtrack. Gotta love the 'UK surf' version of Wave of Mutiliation. I also love Johnette Napolitano's version of Leonard Cohen's "Everybody Knows" I like the soundtrack to the film Kids because Folk Implosion kicksass. My guilty pleasure sndtrk would be for The Crow. My fave orchestral soundtrack is Gladiator. The music really suits the film in my opinion.
As for a song compilation soundtrack i would choose Almost Famous. Forrest Gump
Purple Rain
Big Chill
Cocktail
Dirty Dancing
Roadhouse
Urban Cowboy It's ironic, but mine is a tie between Ennio Morricone's "Once Upon a Time in the West" and Prof. Schikle's "Silent Running." no two ways about it--its soundtrack to PULP FICTION. Resident Evil and Freddy vs. Jason. Pulp Fiction
Singles
The Crow
Baz Luhrmann's Romeo & Juliet
The Devil's Rejects......I will never look at Free Bird the same way
Across The Universe requiem for a dream Forest Gump Hey Darth, I hate to answer the question with something someone already said but I would have to say Natural Born Killers.. Kisses The Crow is also my favorite. It's one of the few soundtracks I can listen to all the way through. Sgt Pepper
Purple Rain
