Does R&P have an evacuation plan in place?

Happy Wednesday! :)

So I've noticed that Fox is ramping up the marketing machine and when I checked the calendar, I saw why...

American Idol starts in nearly a month from now.

We all know what this means both offline (for me, I know that people here in the office will be buzzing non-stop, and TV and radio will be unable to speak of anything else) and online...right here in our R&P home. If it's at all like Rock of Love, I don't know if I'm ready for the onslaught of AI questions and insanity here.

So how does someone prepare for this? Is there a combination of vitamins or any preemptive care that will help? Are there any exercises or training that can be done physically? Should we go out and stock up on bottled water, bread and batteries, and board up the windows?

What will you do to prepare for American Idol?

That's an interesting stategy, James. And I'm sorry that you are forced to participate...I guess we all are, kind of.

I think every time someone posts a question relating to American Idol, all the regulars should respond with a paragraph (pre-written, so we can just copy-paste it in there) explaining why they belong in the reality TV section. It will be a battle at first, but after a while, they will go over there. I nominate Mike to write the lecture, and we can all use the same one. It will really drive the point home.
Plus, the volume of thumbs down and irate reactions will be hilarious!

"No habla Englas!"
Just keep repeating this phrase when asked stupid questions.

My best advice is to evaluate the "talent" on the show and be prepared to be peppered by the onslaught of inane questions regarding people who have no chance to win. By knowing your enemy, you can withstand all attacks and muzzle the questioneers. Tell them who will win on week one and no one will ever challenge you again.

btw, I have 4 daughters so I have no choice but to follow my own advice.

Happy Wednesday Sookie!

I'm planning on filling my underground bunker with warm clothes and unperishable goods and pass the time listening to The Captain and Teneille until the whole god-forbidden process has passed us by.

*Shudder*

Edit: Bring them all! If one person is left behind, then we're all failing as a group.

Wow, that sounded like Bush's educational plan.

i will just get my headphones ready and wear eye patches for the next few months so i dont have to listen to that crap and so i dont have to see it either.

i prepare by buying ear plugs to use during class while everyone is gushing over the "hot" (i never think they are) contestants.... god, i hate american idol, those people are such posers!! the only reason they win is because for some strange reason simon likes them! they are not singers! they are just good actors!

I am loading up all of my semi-automatic weapons with hallowed points. Hopefully the fear of such arsenal will stop the onslaught from even starting. This is called a pre-emptive strike.

Yes. We've had to endure several seasons of this travesty of the music industry which in and of itself was very unpleasant. Thankfully, through trial and error there are ways to survive.I have something of a 5-step plan that helps me get by.

1. Don't watch FOX (unless it's the NFL).
2. Avoid talking about the show (when it's on).
3. Exercise of any kind is good and can only help increase your tolerance to mind numbing stupidity.
4. Although some tend to be ultra trigger happy on that report button, you have to turn up the pressure in the R&P that constant AI question are not only annoying but very unwanted. Peer pressure is a powerful medium.
5. This really has nothing to do with AI, but bread at anytime sounds like a fantastic idea. You buying?

Good, I'll be crashing the bunker. :)

Im packing my bags and heading to the Blues section

I'm looking on Ebay right now for the Y!A American Idol filter.

Edit: I'll be sure to let you know, LOL.

The same thing I do every season, once it really sinks in that... ues its really back. Curl up in the fetal positon with a bottle of vodka.

Happy Wednesday afternoon, Sookie :)

Ah! The *slight* advantages of being in the UK!
It seems that these days the UK version isn't as big as the US one, so I'm relatively safe from such nonsence!

np: 'Matty Groves' ~ Fairport Convention

Hopefully it's better than walking half a mile across the parking lot in freezing snow and waiting for the fire department to arrive guns blazing... only to find out someone burned a bag of popcorn in a microwave.

I say a bit of mushroom tea and cheese...we'll all huddle together in a tent by the campfire and "see" who the trees vote for.

Good Wednesday Sookie !

I'll pretty much have all the basic disaster survival items to include my music library, my books, and a nice supply of beer.

Huevo: Yes, no child--er, person left behind.

I'm lining the walls of my office and my desk top with pillows. Kind of like an assylum. I won't be able to harm myself despite my pending wishes.

Funny story about that. A guy on a radio show I was listening to right after the season finale last time around went on this big rant saying that "the only real music is coming from American Idol now and all those 'Bob Dylan people' need to get with the times. Bob Dylan was good and all, but that's how we're going to get our music from now on." I almost crashed my car.

I think Master C may be onto something here.

It was even kind of suprising coming from that guy, who was one of those people who has a show because he has controversial opinions. I only caught his show a couple times in small doses because I liked the show after his a lot, but it was always a very frustrating experience.

Hi Beatle Fanatic. I'm not sure I've seen that one yet. Bei de bei, who would be in your ultimate rock band and what is this emo thing everyone has been talking about, is it like, MCR?

My advice to you:

Drink heavily.

Trust me, I'm pre-med.

NP: "Here Comes the Sun" - The Beatles

Tell them the show has been renamed to :

American "we are going to rip off every tweener and people who have no taste in music " Idol.

I Hate that show.

Morrison , Joplin , Hendrix , etc. must roll in their grave every winter.

Master C is right.

We all need to start a petition for Yahoo to place POP in it's own category.

WOW, maybe I should ask right now why rock and pop is in the same category! Has anyone ever asked that?

Edit: I just made that suggestion to Yahoo, please everyone go to vote on it.
Darth you said you would vote for it so I'm calling you out!

Do what the bears do, run off to their caves during the winter, but bring lots hot pockets and nudy mags, it can be lonely out there.... :*(

Sign Me up for Huevo's Bunker! Sounds like a plan.
God, I hate American Idol

Beatle Fan I'll sign it!

for me ... think ill wander around for a little, find a warm spot, and hibernate.
see ya in may!

Noooo!!!!! This stinks.....the only delight I've had from that show was that my ex auditioned and his rejection and response were included in the Boston audition show..........

hmmmm.....I'd try systematic desensitization......but I don't have the stamina or tolerance for this stuff......

I'll go to my bunker.....the one last used for the World Series and lock myself in there at night when its on......
