how is it these guys are so arrogant when they work in retail so late in their youth or 30s and their generic shredder metal bands obviously isn't going anywhere? Yes and, unfortunately, that guy has been there for almost 20 years now.
I had asked (a long time ago) about getting an 8 string bass. He called up one of the guitar companies and asked a sales rep about it. I don't know what the sales rep said to the guy that was helping me but his reply was "oh, it's probably something he saw on MTV." It really pissed me off and I refuse to do anything with this guy anymore. I'm actually pretty good friends with the owner and told him about it as well and told him that when I come to the store, I refuse to be "helped" by the guy anymore. Every guitar store has one, it's almost like they have to. It's seems kind of like an affirmative action thing, to give a$$holes a fair shot in the workplace.
The best thing is not to take it personally. They are good (or think they are) at only one thing, and they have to feel superior in that niche. I just nod, buy my strings, and leave. lol, they have no clue what they r talking about. they hire punks that may know how to play smoke on the water and think they r guitar gods. i order off line so i don't have to deal with the inexperience or pushiness of the sales people. i think yahoo should add a musicians forum on here where some people at least know what they r talking about.
