Why do people assume black people like rap ? |
I'm just asking becasue I got an email from as dumb person saying I was poser becasue I like rock and I'm black. That shows you how close-minded people still are.So what's your thought on this? this is what the girl message me: I know what you mean, I have some black friends who love rock and hate rap it's really annoying to them and me when people assume, I always hear about how people didn't like Hendrix for playing "white music" but really music doesn't have a race, all race is is a color, nothing else People believe that because they probably think every black person is afro carabien and likes rap. which is obviously untrue IGNORANCE. Because the world is full of stereotypes. I see/hear more whites listening to that garbage than black folks. Most of it is really disrespectful to women and gives a bad impression of black society. Because its a stereotype and most people believe in stereotypes. I bet that person has never heard of Bad Brains. Because people stereotype all black people as people who listen to only rap. You're not a poser! Good for you! I hate most rap and hip-hop and pop 'cause they mostly rap or sing about sex, women, etc. and it's offensive and uneccesary. That kind of music seriously needs to jump off a cliff and DIE!!!! Rock will never die!!!! But I hope pop and rap do. Because if you watch MTV you'll see black rappers with black dancers around them. OK, my ex & I were just CO workers when I was giving him a ride home 1 day he literally ripped my Depeche Mode tape (this was '87) out of my kenwood and put in Metallica's "Ride the Lightning". We still laugh at that. He's black. He got beat up 3 times in 4 months in jail (for bad checks) by the black guys because he hung out with the whites. He still likes the harder heavier stuff. Hehas dealt with this all his life....It hasn't gotten easier. Good Luck! I've gotten that before too. People just naturally assume that "average" black people listen to rap and R&B. Some people are not as open minded and culturally diverse. So you kinda have to feel bad for people that arent exposed to lots of things. eh its another stereotype that people have yeah its wrong but people are going to believe what they want Ughh Shes The Poseur Herself Proberly Some Preppy Biatch xD Or A Wanna-be Emo Just Ignore Her And Other People Like That. that's a good question. because a lot of black people perform rap and a lot of black people like rap. so, she automatically thought (i hope i dont offend you) that you are black, you have to like rap. now, i am white, and i am punk, and i like rap. she automatically thought that you like rock, just because you want to be like someone else. ignore what she says, she's probably a stupid kid. like whatever music you want. Well, if you were to like rap just for being black, THAT would make you a poser. That is obviously a poser who is posing to be a person who calls other people posers. And they are obviously an idiot. Obviously that person is not educated enough to make a worthwhile opinion. She can't even make a sentence. well as a black female i like rock & metal music as for rap i can't stand it don't understand a word of it maybe back then i liked it but then i got driven into another direction METAL & ROCK which is my kinda music with a little r & b on the side. lots of black people are rappers. i hate when people assume that. im black and its annoying. KW's is right, but just to be devils advocate, with television and radio stations projecting images 24/7 it is hard not to think outside the box that is created. You have to break the mold. it is assumed that all black people like rap because it is a genre that truely belongs to black people, it was started by black artists, and the majority of current rap music is made by black people. and most importantly, rap is a celebration of black heritage that emphasizes the importance of beats that come all the way from africa, and also poetry. the flaw in these people's reasoning could be that they think rock is a part of white people's heritage, which it's not, it is the result of combining all the music that was poular in america in the 40s and 50s, which included music from many different cultures. another flaw in reasoning might be that they assume that all black people want to celebrate their heritage in this way, which they don't. |
