Why do us Rockers have to share space with popstarts?!?

I was just asked, do you like zeppelin or rush. Ive had enough, rock should have its own space, who's with me?!..and i purposly spelt popstars wrong to prove how much of a rocker i really am....(:

Rock is POP-ular, but POP is NOT ROCK!!! ROCK ON, my brethren!!! Rock on!

thats what i want to know

because mainstream bands like panic at the disco get more teenage girls for their looks rather then their music which is pretty horrible too.

When ever I first started being on here, I thought of the same thing. "Rock" and "Pop" should be in 2 totaly different catigories. Also, what really pisses me off is the fact that people are starting to call Kelly Clarkson, Avril Levigne, and Jesse McCartney "rockers" or "rock singers". This really sucks some serious ***......

are you insinuating that rockers can't spell? lol.
idk, the yahoo ppls are too lazy to make a separate section.

oh well, can't do anything about it now......

I really don't know, BUT IT'S BULLSHIT!!!!! I cant stand it their music sucks!!!!

if i see one more preteen fall out boy worshipping girl who thinks fob is gods gift to music, im gonna put a foot through this computer.

Why did they put lions in with the gladiators?
for fighting!
Hey Know.......I love Ninjas

Originally, Rock was the pop music of it's time. Sadly, that is no longer the case.

It's not so much the pop music, as the fangirls.

They should have their own category, so they can annoy the living hell out of each other and fight over 'who's hotter'.
Maybe we can throw some ninjas and other awesomely deadly people into the pit-o-moronic-bimbos to just eliminate them all.

problem solved.

I agree. It should be with something similar (or decent), or in its own category. Sweetwatersd's answer makes sense; perhaps that may be why?

Why? Technically rock is pop. They are one in the same. 'Popular music' encompasses many styles. It's only in the last few years that some people have come to think of pop as only being Britney Spears, Julio Iglesias, or Celine Dion related (examples). Pop is many things...pop means "popular".
If you were to draw a line between the two, it would be a very fine one indeed. I feel segregating them would create more confusion.

So nice idea, but it won't fly. Who will decide what's pop and what's rock? And when "they" do decide this, will "we" be happy with that decision? Too many discrepancies are bound to arise from this, primarily by people who think they know the "true" definition of rock/pop.
I really don't see what the big deal is. The rock and pop section is already bombarded with a ton of crap that most of us don't care for anyways. If you don't like the artist in question, scroll to the next question, simple as that. It's not as though your immediate contacts will be bombarding you with Barbara Streisand or American Idol questions. It's always been about scrolling and choosing the query that interests you.
Futile concept (no offense), but that's my opinion.

i agree its bullshit

Because rock and pop were originally intertwined, which obviously created the best sound. Maybe you should do a little research before you freak out. And seriously I live for (my answer would be Led Zeppelin by the way) music, but even if this label was Rock and Rap, what does it really matter. The world is not any better or worse off.
