What's the video Schism (by the band Tool) supposed to mean?

the word schism means a division or split between an organiztion (church) or relationship. The album (Lateralus) that this song is from is about reconciliation. So the song is talking about how the church or religious body/relationship used to be good and pure and then has been corrupted by people/a person. If you listen to the lyrics it pretty much explains itself. The guitarist from tool Adam Jones directs the videos for tool. They are all pretty much done in claymation/weird creatures. here is a website for you to go look at

Weird, I had never thought of them as aliens, but just people.
It best to take its meaning in the context of the whole album, not just the song.
Anyone can easily tell you hundreds of meanings that will in fact make sense in the context. It's best to find yours on your own. Think of the words: it's smart and powerful. Its sorta like self-discovery, and not just accepting it but embracing it. this is what i've got, you dont have to go by it.
