Is anyone else even Kind of sad that Ike Turner died?

I know that he was not all that popular anymore but he did a lot for Rock -N- Roll in the sixties. Plus he gave us Tina's great legs.

Delta Queen and Charles WE: Yes I do know that Tina hasn't spoken to him in years and I don't blame her after the way that he treated her, BUT, if it hadn't been for their relationship in the beginning, Tina may have not been as well known as she became. Ike was all ready in the business and he is the one that first put her on stage. Ike was first and foremost an accomplished guitar player that put out lots of music over his many years in the business. No matter how you feel about him personally, Rock and Roll ha slost another legend.

Yeah. It is sad.

I was at a concert at San Jose State in the late 'sixties, and couldn't resist the temptation to get to the front of the stage and run my hand down Tina's leg. She smiled, toussled my hair, and gently pushed me back with a smile. But Ike gave me a BAD look.

That's my only Ike story. RIP Ike.

He was 76 years old and had done his share of wife beating, and drug taking. And he had nothing to do with giving us Tina's legs.

so...ike turner wasn't a saint...but consider this:

he was the arranger and the piano player on 'rocket 88' by jackie breston and his rhythm kings from way back in '53; which is considered by most rock music scholars to be THE first rock and roll record...

and, yeah...i'm a little sad that ike died without gettin' the respect he deserved in rock music history....

What do you mean he gave us Tinas great legs? What a insult, do you know that she hasn't even spoken to that man in over 30 years? She and God gave chose to share those legs with us!
Ike Turner was a very talented man whose demons where greater than his talent. I'm sure that he is morned by many here as he has a very large family. I pray that he had the forethought to ask for forgiveness before he passed away and that his family is able to move on in a healthy manor.

More sad that his inner demons ended up eclipsing his talents.

He obviously had a lot of both, but the guy let the demons win and really hurt himself and a lot of people around him.

He was probably a very complex person.
