EMG's, Seymour Duncans, or Dimarzio?

I plan on getting an American Deluxe Fender Stratocaster with all single coil pickups. I'm thinking about getting either a set of EMG's, Seymour Duncan's, or Dimarzio's. I like to play classic rock, hard rock, progressive, alternative, grunge, blues, jazz, and metal. A few of my favorite bands are Pink floyd, Led zeppelin, U2, Rush, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Guns N' Roses, Pearl Jam, Metallica, Oasis, Coldplay, The Beatles, Audioslave etc. There's too much to count.

The Reason I picked a Strat is because I like to have both the crunch and bell like sounds. Plus I'm a big fan of David Gilmour, Jimi Hendix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Richie Blackmoure.

I plan on getting a 120 watt Line 6 amp. I'm buying it more for the price and the numerous sounds it can produce.

EMG's are good pickups - if you want to exclusively play metal. Their clean sound is shocking.
Dimarzio pickups are common among guitarist like Vai, Satriani, Malmsteen, Gilbert, etc.
Seymour Duncans are common among the bands you are interested in.

But the best way to find out what pickups you want is to try them in a guitar shop or the audio samples on their site ;)

i like emg's and dimarzios.
if you are playing emg's though, you need a pedal because it sounds a lot better than the amps overdrive. i have a gibson paul and i have an emg in the neck, and a dimarzio in the bridge.

I saw Pink Floyd in '88 and went the EMG route and have never been sorry for doing so. What great pups! I have several other strats that have Fender Custom Shop Texas Specials, Tex-Mex and Lace Sensors. They are all very good, but I still find myself gravitating back to my EMG's. I don't think you'll regret buying some. Check out the EMG DG-20's. I hope this helps and good luck.
