Question about drums in metal music? anyone who listens to metal please answer?

in some metal songs they have this heavy fast deep sounding drum noise

u hear it in the background of the song this calling by all that remains

my question is, how do the drummers make this fast paced heavy sound?

is it digitally done by the song or does the drummer do it?

But judging by your question. I assume you're either asking about the Bass drums. Those are the 2 lowest piched drums on the kit. The bass drum is the lowest pitched of all the drums on the kit because of it's larger and deeper shell. The average size for the bass drum is 18" X 22" . Yes, double bass drummers can move acutally that fast if they practice long enough on their double bass drumming co-ordination skills. Double bass drumming is very,very difficult because you have to keep pounding on both Bass drums at superr fast tempos for the remainder of the song.

Drummers like Dave Lombardo ( Slayer) and Raymond Herrera ( Fear Factory) are great examples of lightning fast double bass drummming. Hope this helped out. Take care

Whoa cool guy! Yeah its the double kick pedals that make that sound, I think Slayer is a shitty example too, Nick Menza from Megadeth is pretty handy with his kick drums, so are Joey Jordison, the Rev from Avenged Sevenfold, and homeboy from DragonForce

SWEETWATERSD I disagree with you, the guitar is not necessarily the most technical instrument of a band, It all depends who's playing. I guarantee you that any bass line by Billy Sheehan or Dave Allefson are far more complicated and technical than for example a Metallica guitar riff, Like I said, depends who's playing the instrument. I know this for a fact, I play guitar (rock), classical guitar, and bass.
