What kind of medium level electric guitar can I buy?

I currently own an Austin acoustic guitar and I鈥檝e had that since June of 鈥?7.

So since Christmas is almost here, I鈥檓 just wondering what kind of electric guitar I can buy that is medium level (I don鈥檛 want to buy a beginners electric guitar because I heard from my guitar teacher that I won鈥檛 need a beginners electric guitar for a long time. So I might as well purchase a medium level guitar.), not too expensive, and is made by a reputable company.

Thanks.

I would take my money and go to a local "independently owned" guitar shop. "DONT GO TO A NATIONAL CHAIN" Find the owner...be up front and honest with them and see what they have in a GOOD used guitar. I have found this to be the best way to get a good deal on something that might last for a long time

simple, Fender standard strat with a humbucker in the bridge and a maple neck,
dont waste your time on an epiphone, i have a Les Paul studio (thats a gibson) that i never play

Peavey, Fender standard series, Ibanez

I love my Fender Highway One. It's US made but cost less than a US standard strat and the Mexico built models are good for the price.

Check out Ibanez,Ltd(ESP),Schecter or Epiphone(Gibson). They make some pretty decent guitars in the $300-$600 range. In some cases maybe cheaper. Depends on what style of music ya play. Go play them first. Don't buy something you haven't played. Good luck.
