Michael Jackson - 'Drum Case Beater'......?

In the credits for Michael Jackson's album Thriller, it lists him as playing something called a 'Drum Case Beater'. As far as I know there is no such instrument...or am I wrong?

Most edifying... It's been bugging me for about twenty years!

LOL, you're not wrong. But, he literally beat on the storage case of a drum like bongos for some of the percussion sounds. So it qualifies as an instrument and he gets credits on the album for it.

Gee Whiz!!I never knew thank you, you two.

I am so very glad that Gee explain this one.
I was starting to have some very strange images flashing though my mind!

Poor old Michael, to think that once no one would have thought badly of him.

As an artist I can't fault him. there has been no one like him.
I blame it on his father, he was both the making and the ruin.

Yeah, he beat on the drum case like a bongo. It's the same sort of thing that Bermuda Schwartz did when Weird Al recorded "Another One Rides the Bus" in the school bathroom (talk about a disparity in budget!), only Schwartz used Al's accordian case.

That was his inspiration for "Beat It."

Beat it, just beat it... get yourself a drum case and beat it... just beat it...

Sorry... couldn't resist. :)
