What is some advice for starting high school bands?

well, first off meet more people from other classes make friends with them - think of it this way : more friends more fans

then when the time has come to where you feel like performing on stage take any opertunity you get! like talent shows or even rockathons or other school school related events

while doing so make sure you have someone to record your work

shortly after here's the biggy.. Make A Myspace!
myspace is probably the best way to get your music all around.


After everything is said and done, start recording! you'd be suprised on how many people like to buy begginer band CD's

After that it shouldnt take long until you find a friend who has a relative in the entertainment buisness, who would gladly recomend your band to his company, and hook you guys up with a recod deal

don't get discouraged, some great bands don't get discoverd for many years

hey we'll do like 15 cover songs and 2 originals
do 15 originals and 2 covers
and dont follow trends

get a few songs together, play at parties, local venues often cater to local bands, some churches will let you play if you don't use bad language.

Use Myspace. It's a huge free advertising benefit.

Find local promoters and get on local shows & charity events.

Record an ep and have merch.
