What is the best affordable drum set that is good for Rock 'n' roll music?

i guess my answer was taken, but the tama swingstar class is really good, BUT its now called the Imperial Star... its the same model stewart copland of the Police uses, except his is tricked out...i have an 04 swingstar, and its an awesome kit, u wont need another 4 awhile!!!

dont go with ludwig or pearl... but pacific by DW is pretty good too...

oh, and u should get some mediocre cybals if ur kit doesnt come with them. invest in nice sounding ones wen ur btter... all the hardware probably wont need to change. and if ur gonna upgrade, get a DW pedal, or Pork Pie Snare, great snares...

What do you consider affordable? Most of the guys I've been in bands with have started on Pearl Drums, often buying a used set to start with. But you want to get solid, good quality shells and sturdy hardware. You can always upgrade your drumheads. Cymbals are really important too because cheap ones sound like crap and don't last so invest in good quality Zildjans or Paiste cymbals. After all you don't save money if you have to replace everything in a year or two.
