Rock and pop?

why is rock and pop always group together? Jazz, blues, country and classical have their own sections but rock and pop are always together. I don't think that they are similar enough to be grouped as one.

Well, pop technically isn't a genre, it just means Popular Music. That being said, seeing as rap is what's popular these days, I'm confused as well.

because some idiots get maroon 5 and nickleback confused with rock. So pop and rock, are then grouped together.
