I used to listen to em... but I change my music-type n found some real music to me..LOL
ps: those bands were considered "sucks" for people who know rock well... but sooner or later u might like stuff like heavy metal/ rock or even deathcore I agree, you should start with some classic rock, not too heavy, so you can trace the influences. I'll give you the bands and some Cds.
SUPERTRAMP- Crime of the Century, Breakfast in America... both great CDs, impressive lyrics, but nothing too heavy
FLEETWOOD MAC-Rumors - one of the best sold cds of all times
DIRE STRAITS- Brothers in arms
GENESIS- Trick of the tail, Wind and Wuthering - wonderful lyrics and melodies that transport you to the middle ages and haunted stories
for some metal, you might try out METALLICA. I am not so much into metal, but these guys are amazing, Their CD S & M was recorded with a symphony orchestra, that is something you need to listen to. Like great classical music. breathtaking.
