What's the best thing to drink for your throat before singing or performing? |
What's the best thing to drink for your throat before singing or performing? i heard that honey and corn oil helps (not together) Boil ginger in water with a little sugar. Drink it hot like tea. It's soothing and good for the voice. egg whites, gross but some singers do that Honey and Lemon Room temperature water. Sad but true. I've looked up information on this a thousand times and found conflicting info everywhere. Some people say hot is good because it feels good, other people say that no matter how good it is, it is damaging to the vocal cords. Cold apparently makes the vocal cords less reactive. It is universally true that caffeine and sugar are the worst things you can consume, both of them being damaging to the vocal folds. Some people say that honey is good because it has some kind of good for your voice properties, others say its bad because its sugar. So in the end, I decided that its best to stick to room temperature water! Something hot, like tea. Don't drink coffee unless you eat a lot before, coffee can increase your heart rate and make you seem nervous and edgy, especially if you don't eat before. But maybe that's a good thing if you're character is supposed to be that way. water or hot tea. but not too hot that you burn yourself! =] Water, it's the best thing to hydrate you. plenty of water. If you're performing, then either plain water or a warm drink, such as tea. Make sure it's not hot, just warm. Simply water. No caffeinated drinks at all recommended as they dry up the mucosal area of your throat!! Several shots of gold tequila... or water with a lemon wedge. Gargle with salt water before drinking lemon juice with just a touch of honey. DO NOT take anything too cold or hot.. drink something preferrably at room temperature .. if you have nothing available at room temperature, sounds gross but move the liquid around in your mouth abit to get it to the right temperature. DO NOT drink anything with citrus (orange, lime, lemon etc.) as these can cut the throat. DO drink alot of water days before an event to keep it nourished. You can add honey too. AND sleep at least 10 hrs the night before your performance. Oh yes.. dont drink caffeinated drinks as they can dry the throat. lukewarm water. cold water makes your voice crackly. no dairy products at all. they produce mucus and makes your voice a bit shifty and doesnt sound as good. Tea - any kind, really - with honey and lemon. Main advice: if at all possible, avoide caffeine (before preforming). That is SO bad for your voice. |
