Has your choir or theatre ever resorted to using girls in guy parts?

No, not traditional gender switch roles like Peter Pan, I mean out of desperation.

I sing as a tenor in choir, though I am clearly a girl. Really, I have quite a range, but there are only two guys in choir. It's kind of weird, because I often can't hit notes that they can, and I often can hit notes that they can't.

So... any girl "tenors" out there?

for a while I sang tenor in choir for the same reason as you do. There weren't enough guys.
funny enough, the tenor and alto range often overlap. where we altos think of medium range, the guys are sweating out the high notes. Where we try and keep from sounding like trucks rumbling uphill in low gear( our lowest notes), they are very happy in their medium range. It has to do with the fact that the average guy's vocal equipment is ( even in high school) 20% larger than girls'. that's what makes a real tenor voice so rare, and so exciting.
then there are some ladies ( I sit next to one) who are real contraltos. They sing way below anything else female to begin with, and are very happy to help out the tenors ( if it means they can avoid singing up an octave, where It becomes work for them, too).
My sister-in-law sings tenor with her community choir for lack of men, and because she feels most comfortable that low.
As more and more men "decide" that singing isn't "right" for them, we all feel the loss in our choruses. If you hear a guy that sounds like he speaks well ( and it can be pretty weird, craning your head around in the check-out line to find out who that is who's speaking so beautifully behind you) find the courage to praise his voice and ask if he sings. if we can all get at least one guy back into singing, we might not have to do double-duty....
And we may make a friend.
Best wishes and keep on singing

i don't know if this answers your ? but I'm alto in my choir class and sometimes the guys can't sing a part because it's to high so the girls only can sing it.

I've had to sing tenor in the past, but it was only for very small choirs. It's not unusual to have low alto singers double the tenors.

Also, back when I was in a showchoir, I played Annas, a male tenor role, in "Jesus Christ Superstar"

yeah it has happend to me dont worry it just makes u funnier

Well, seeing that all the guys in my choir are losers who only got placed in the class because they didn't turn in their elective sheets, it's a daily task in my class.

Not my choir. But I do know of some choirs that do have to use tenors. It is quite unfortunate. Maybe your choir should consider removing the males completely in choir, since there are barely any. And it's not fair to the poor girls who aren't being used to their best potential!
