Singing tuition through books?

As I cannot afford singing lessons on a regular basis, which books, cd's and dvd's can anyone recommend I buy to help me with my singing?

What do you think about 'Singing For Dummies'? Would this book benefit me in any way?

Sorry choc love, you are very wrong. Anyone can be taught to sing just like anyone can be taught to play guitar. It just takes the right technique and lots of practice.

Here's some I've used:

Raise Your Voice v2 by Jaime Vendera
Brett Manning's Singing Success (cheesy but really good if you work at it)
The Contemporary Vocalist by Anne Becker

RYV is geared towards rock singers mainly, but the stuff in there will help anybody and is almost the last thing book you'll ever need on singing. If you need a practice plan, use the 'Vocal Stress Release' exercises in RYV, and then use Singing Success, which is mainly made up of lots CDs that you sing along to making weird and wonderful noises - works wonders for your voice though if you do it every day. The last book is just another one that might benefit, if you can't afford SS.

How is a book going to teach you how to sing?
Singing is a natural talent, you've either got it or you haven't. No book or dvd is going to change that I'm afraid.

you are better to have lessons once a month than buy a book..you need someone to listen to your voice and teach you breathing techniques. keep searching til you find someone you can afford..ask for a half-hour lesson..usually only 拢10-15
