I love to sing and want to make a career out of it. But I have no idea how to start- what do i do first? Is there anything specific that I should do if my aspiration is to make it big time? Any help is greatly appreciated! The first thing you need is a demo cd with at least 5 songs.
You need to front a band, this really is critical if you want to succeed in the music business, you can do this by placing an ad on www.craigslist.org or look for bands looking for vocals.
You need to write your own songs, style your songs, develop a following, then tour your band and in order to do that you MUST have an agent, if you can find one locally be careful don't hire someone just because they say they can get you a gig, get referances and check them out, don't sign a contract with anyone unless you have had it looked at be an attorney.
I know this is not the fast track you want but it is the way to the fast track! exactly what the guy above said.but make sure you dont rush the music.your focus needs to be putting all of your musical abilities into writing.if you half it the songs wont have enough passion in them.i think train your guitar and vocals.make a demo.if u want to be a solo artist or want band mates put out adds in websites.I heard craigslist wasnt good to put an add in.Try to do formingbands.com or look online for local bands(myspace) that have the genre sound ur looking for.
