How can i improve my singing voice? I really need best answers! im trying out for choir. 10 pnts. best answer?

Oh please dont say practice because im looking for something to strengthen my voice. I already practice for an hour everyday! Try something elese please!

well im in 11th grade & i have taken choir for 8 years. now im in concert choir ( best 15 singers who auditioned from school ).

the things the teachers look for most are:

--breath support. try "the rag doll". drop down to touch your toes & blow out all your air @ the same time. slowly come back up, look at the ceiling, then breathe in from your belly or diaphragm area. this helps w/ keeping long breaths while singing.

--tonal quality. all you need to do for this is do a few exercises. (even though i know you do, try these. )
1. sirens(or high or low sighs). make an oval shape with your mouth and sigh high or low.
2. practice your solfege a few times.

--facial expression. you cant go wrong with this. with EVERY and ANY song you do, have some facial expression. keep eyes open, not tired. try to feel the mood of the song before you start. also, pretend as if you have a paintbrush on your nose. then let the air in front of you be your canvas and mose your head slightly around so you have ENERGY! =]

--posture. feet flat. feet should be aligned with shoulder width. always pay attention to the conductor or director. posture always helps with your singing so you're not slumping and close your diaphragm for no breath support.

hope i helped. =]

practice practice practice

well im in my 9th grade choir, have been in choir for 5 years now. Bring your energy. Facial Expression. Make your mouth wide (oval-like). Depends if you are a Soprano(high female voice) or Alto(lower female voice). Just be yourself. Also you have to be commented to this. Energy and Facial Expression is the key

I don't know what you already have to work with, but the best thing to improve the voice you already have is to practice breathing, believe it or not. Holding notes, singing from your gut as opposed to falsetto...
Your voice will sound stronger, you will be able to project better, and you will be able to hold notes longer. The more you practice, the better you will get.

Good luck!

i took choir and it really improved my voice. another way is to pick one of ur favorite songs, get the lyrics to it, and practice singing it!! im doing that right now!!!! hopefully it works...hope i helped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

You could join a community/school choir, or you could do some good exercises on your own. When you sing, make sure that you are standing with good posture. Make sure that you warm up your voice by singing something like "doh, ray, me, far, sew, la, tea, doh" with a scale. Start by singing it with a low scale and gradually work your way up to high notes with a scale. That will help you improve your voice range. Also try saying things like "Mommy made me munch my M&M's" and "Peter peppered peeled potatoes" very fast multiple times in a row. That will help you improve your diction. Then say "A, E, I, O, U" several times. Make sure that your mouth is shaped like a long O when you sing so that you will have nice, long vowel sounds. After doing those exercises, you can start singing just about any song you would like to! I hope this helps!
