What should i do if i get nervous about singing and playing an instrument in church?

I wanted to know what i should do if i'm nervous to play an instrument and sing in church? I sometimes mess up and i feel a lot of pressure! HELP! :(

I think you should realize that doing it is giving you experience. You're doing it now, and maybe your nervous.
But that'll go away the more you do it. Don't be affected by any mistakes, they'll pass. Just enjoy it, and realize you can only get better. You'll be scared before it, but stay calm and picture how accomplished you'll feel when your done!

I have a lot of performers in my family, and they surely got nervous at first. But in time they felt more confident and comfortable. Don't worry you'll get there. Just believe in yourself.

pray! before you play that god will get you thru it

Know that your the only one that will know you made a mistake, practice makes perfect!

praise the Lord Halleluiahh!
Why be nervous my darling? There is nothing to fear. Once you realize that you sing better without being nervous then you will do much better. Try not to look too hard at the audience. Blur your vision so you don't see their expressions. Then go for it.
Amen

Concentrate on your breathing low in the belly and you will not be able to worry about being nervous. this breathing exercise is helpful in calming

Whenever I perform in Church I practice before church starts and I also pray to do good!

when u get on stage picture everyone in their boxers or underwear

Don't worry!

Chances are most of the people in the audience will have no idea what you are playing, because they may not have heard it before. Therefore if you go wrong, they will have no idea unless you show it (by screwing up your face or something)

If it's a well known song, like 'silent night', then chances are you will be more confident in playing it you wont go wrong. Or, if people are singing along too, because they know the song, they will naturally sing louder and won't pay as much attention to the music!

So don't panic or worry. Besides, everyone goes wrong, but it isnt always noticable!

I SO understand ...
when I do that I just have to look past everybody and not make eye contact with ANYONE, or I will freeze up and mess up.
and just remember that no one else will remember your mistake more than a few minutes, so if you DO mess up, don't beat yourself up over it!
:O)

CHILL! There is nothing to be ashamed of! I had this problem once. Take it one at a time and don't rush yourself. Try working your way up to performing at big places. Get used to playing and singing in front of your family. Have a few friends over to be your audience too. The less pressure, the more people. Try focusing on one thing. Start with practicing singing or playing your instrument. Perform them seperatly in front of the family and friends who are watching you, practice your next type of music, and do the same thing when you perform. Stick them together and there you go. Not only can you play both, but your stage fright is now stage fun!

Just keep playing and singing! Try singing with a small group to get "comfortable" if you can...try to have fun...don't sing old fashioned songs...lots of great new music out there that people will like to hear and you will like to sing!!! If not "Christian Rock" stuff, look into the "Paperback Hymn Suppliments" in Presbyterian and Methodist Churches....lots of undiscovered gems in there!!!!
