Climb every mountain...till your voice breaks?

Ok, I'm going to be Mother Superior in the Sound of Music in less than two weeks. I'm not a bad singer, but I'm an alto, so singing Climb Every Mountain is a real problem when it gets to the end notes. Whenever I hit the last notes my voice cracks and I sound pretty bad. The show is really soon and I'd like some advice on how to hit my high notes more clearly.

Open your mouth very wide and use a lot of breath.

And, I'm SO sure that it's all a mind set! Since you're voice has broken before, you're feeling like you can't do the song. Just go for it, really. Take a deep, calm breath, say "I can do this." Have a mind set that you don't really care, because you know you can hit it.

Picture the sound coming from the very top of your head. (But don't point your chin up to strain for it!!)

Did that help?

try singing scales and going higher with each one. Any chance you can just change the note? i know at this point it's too late for them to lower the key, but maybe you could sing a note that fits in the chord but is lower than the actual note. Best of luck!

ya,i also advise u to concentrate on ur singing & have a lot of practice.you will definitely reach u r goal.all the best
