How do you get that lo-fi mic sound?

In recording I use filters, distortion, and tiny desktop computer mics to get the effect of vintage lo-fi 30's/40's sounding vocals but I haven't found anything I can use (that's cheap and effective) live.

I know some bands use bullhorns to get the crappy intercom sound but I also play guitar so that's not an option.

Any ideas? Do they sell mics for this purpose? What are they called because typing "lo-fi" and "vintage mics" on searches is coming up with nothing.

Thanks

Probably the best way is to sing through a guitar amp. That'll give you a retro sound.

You could also run your mike the a tube preamp. ART makes a very inexpensive one ($100). I believe their newest has a bunch of presets that will definitely get you closer to what you're looking for.
