Singing Help!!!!!?

i LOVE to sing, and i'm pretty good at it to, but i have a problem with hitting the high notes. does anybody have any advice on singing or hitting the high notes. Thanx!!!

I don't know why people think singing high notes will mess up your voice. Don't believe people when they tell you that. Perhaps staying in the stratosphere the whole time would do damage to your voice and everyone's ears, (LOL) but it will not hurt you. If you can audibly sing the note, it is there.

First of all, make sure you have proper diaphragmatic breathing before you sing. Second of all, do not tense up as you sing higher. Most people have a tendency to overthink high notes, and when you think "OH NO...HERE COMES THE HIGH NOTE..."It is like a roller coaster. Your body locks up, and so does the note.

Relax. Open more inside, and don't tense up. Keep your head and neck level, and don't reach for the note with your body. Don't look up at the note. If you can sing the note, it requires no effort to look up at it. Doing that will cut off your support, therefore it will cut off the note.

Always properly warm up your entire range first. Never try singing any song without it. Warm up AT LEAST for 5 to 10 minutes. Sliding from one octave to another is a good warm up for hitting high notes.

Try some relaxation exercises before singing. Roll your neck, shoulders, touch your toes, stretch out your whole body. Get that tension out. The more relaxed you are, the better your high notes will be.

Just remember it takes more energy to hit high notes, not more effort. For example, don't overwork your body. Just open up, relax, and give it more energy from inside. Don't make singing high notes extremely physical. The less anxiety you have when singing high notes, the more free you will sing. So just relax, breath diaphragmatically, don't PUSH or FORCE the high note out, and let the high note come to you. Just doing those basic steps which isn't hard will improve your high notes tremendously. Have fun!

im in choir and not everyone can hit high notes so its perfectly normal. just stick to notes you can hit or you can messs up your voice. also i heard if you sing the star spangled banner every day it can help your vocals chords hit higher notes. good luck!

Another tip as the other answerer has covered it.
Open your mouth so you don't squeak.
