How to yell in song properly?

Hi folks, I'd like to know how I can properly yell in songs. What I mean like this, particularly, is how to get real gravel into my voice for a gruff and aggressive sound. I've heard that you have to sing from your diaphragm, but I don't think my throat should vibrate either--I want to learn how to do it without stressing my vocal chords and hurting myself. Some examples of this style could be Seether (for a moderate yell-gruff, something I'd want to go for) or Static-X (very extreme, probably not what I'd want to learn). Also, are there any dangers associated with it?

It hurts your throat to yell really. Try using diaphragm but It's hard to describe. Just let your mouth wide open and push sounds from your diaphragm. It takes practice, of course, so every time get louder :)

use ur diaphragm
