How can i get over my fear of singing in front of people? and confidence to sing out?

Serious answers only please.

Dear confused...,

Like you and nearly every performer, I've been there. Performing in front of people is killer until you learn to turn the negative energy into positive energy. If you don't have the confidence FAKE IT!

Try these:

Go in prepared. The more prepared you are for an audition or performance the more comfortable you will feel.

Nervousness is all body chemistry. The more you do it the more your body gets used to it. Do anything. You don't have to start big. Sing for your family, friends, at church, at a club, and definitely audition and perform for everything you can.

Before you go on stage:
1. Don't eat a big meal
2. Stretch
3. Warm up your voice
4. Close your eyes and just block everything out
5. Tighten every muscle in your body, head to toe, and let it go all at once. Follow up with a deep breath

Before you go on, you can dare yourself to do well. There has got to be something you think is worse than singing in front of loads of people.

Stage presence is everything. If you鈥檙e nervous, no one has to know. Hold your head up, walk out with purpose and poise, once you get over it a little, making eye contact with your audience can be motivating. If you can't look at your audience, look through them.

Find a comfortable stance and just do what you love. Singing and Performing is FUN! Don't take a deep breath before you begin, instead swallow and let your nerves wash away.

You'll be fine. Mind over mater. It鈥檚 all psychological and attitude is everything.

Every performer makes huge mistakes during a performance or two. You know you messed up!...but the audience doesn't have to. Stay in character and cover yourself. If you forget the words just keep singing...anything. Half the audience has never heard the song before, the other Half isn't listening to the text directly.

Good luck and happy singing!

the best thing you can do is to continue to sing in front of people...the more you do it the easier it gets. I had the same problem with public speaking but found that the more I did it the less afraid I was and now I don't have much of a problem. Good Luck!

Just keep trying it. For me, it's easier to sing in front of a bigger crowd (especially people you don't know) because it seems like they're not that focused on you. If it's a small crowd, everyone is listening to you and all the attention on you. Now, my friend is the opposite and likes to sing in front of smaller crowds. I guess it depends on how long you've been singing. It was new to me and a lot of people didn't know I could sing.

Good Luck! God Bless!

See I had that problem too...but y friend wanted to hear 1 of the songs I wrote....So I sang it to her over the phone.....And I got over it. Try singing in front of the mirror or your parents, friends, or anyone or thing.

Hope this helped ~~Luv Always Rayann~~

Try going to a hypnotherapist or studying hypnotherapy. I'm a professional athlete and find this works very well. hope this helps.

After you've practiced at home for a while with a karaoke machine, go to a place that has regular weekly karaoke nights - restaurants, bowling alleys, etc. (Look these up for your area in a directory or on-line). You might want to go listen the first time or 2 - to see if it's a place you're comfortable with (atmosphere and clientele-wise), to see the drill as to how people sign up for songs with the KJ and to see how other people perform. Chances are you'll see a wide variety of singing and performance skill levels and posssibly music genres. Remember that everyone had a first time and people are here because they love music and singing.

Now that you know how it's done, take the plunge. The nice thing about karaoke nights is that they are non-judgmental and very supportive of all singers. Once you've done it a couple of times, you're home free! You'll be known as a singer, people will come up and tell you how great you were and ask what you're gonna sing next, the crowd claps and cheeres enthusiastically after your performance - what a confidence builder!

It's important to keep up regular weekly public singing if possible. It gives you the practice and confidence to try new things - such as new songs or genres or even singing at other events.

Best of luck with your singing!!! =]

well, i got over my stage fright by singing in front of my family and friends, and then i just kept doing that till i gained enough confidence to sing in front of other people.

Just ignore your fears and walk to the stage and don think about anything... That's what i did when i performed on stage... The minute i finish singing, i couldn't believe what i just did....

Look when I started singing I had terrible stage fright. My whole body got tense and started shaking. I felt like I was having convulsions. I managed to always sing to the end without stopping. I asked my mom and friends about it afterwords and they said they couldn't tell.

I never got nervous singing in front of my friends and family.

For me the best help was singing in choir. I got comfortable with being on the stage and singing, but I wasn't the only person you heard.

Then I moved up to solo competitions in high school, just me and two judges.

Then I auditions for college, just me and three judges.

I started taking voice and had to sing once each semester in front of my peers and once in front of a judge panel. All the experience plus knowing my music helped.

I still get nervous, but I don't stand like a stone and I am not shaking these days.

Work hard, keep going, and eventually you will feel comfortable and confidant

I SAY USE EVERYBODY ANSWERS AND COMBINE IN ONE

when i sing in front of some of my freinds and my bands behind me i know im going through as much as them and i have self confidence.

You just have to go up there with all of the confidence you have....because once you do it, you'll never want to stop. And if you mess up a little bit, a.nobody is perfect b. no one will really know. So just go up there and do it.

imagine them in under wear
