I wanna sing . . .?

I LOVE to sing I always have & always will
I want to learn to be a good singer, I sing in the shower, ( who doesnt?) when I am doing chores, & even more when I am alone in the house I'll turn the music up as loud as it can go on the computer or my radio and just sing. but if my grandmother or mom or sister catch me singing they yell at me and tell me to stop, & tell me that I sound awful, but then later *they tell me I have a good country voice, or I sound great. it is really confusing.
I want to get singing lessons but my mom said no.


* by "they" I mean my sister & mom. NEVER my grandmother.

what do I do?
I still wanna be a singer.

I dont go to school.
I am unhappily homeschooled and have been all my life.

I also sing when I'm in the shower and when I'm alone at home. Sometimes it feels like I'm good singing, but I know I'm not. When I sing my parents tell me to stop too.xD But if they told you that your voice is good for country music I think they are right. Look for some classes and you'll be a good singer! good luck!

The best way to get vocal training without having to pay is to join choir at school. They teach you how to breathe and sing properly and its free.

Hi Sara, you write in your profile that you are 16 years old so I would guess that your voice is still developing, the next 2 years will tell if you have a professional standard singing voice, you can train your voice and vocal coaching helps a lot but you can't change your body; some people are just born with good singing voices. Record yourself and listen critically, you may or may not like what you hear. Post a couple of videos on You Tube and see what comments you get, you will always get a few rude comments but you will also get some constructive criticism and maybe people will like your singing and tell you so.
