What do they do in voice lessons? |
Ive been singing since i could talk pretty much (im 16) I already have a good voice (not bragging) but i want to get better. I also want to get over being self consious about my voice. Will they criticize me and put me down if i cant hit a low note?? Im normally shy but i dont want to be shy about this because i want to get serious about singing. A good voice teacher will take you from where you are (ability wise) and help you get better. They will evaluate your voice and guide you to sing the best you can. They will never or should never criticize you, but help you be the best singer you can be. They shouldn't unless you get a bad teacher. The teacher is there to help you improve, not criticize you. The teacher should help you so that you will be able to hit the low note. they won't criticize you. i have had several teachers and none ciriticized me about ability - only when i didn't do my homework! vocal coaching and singing lessons is good because your teacher will give you exercises and techniques to make your singing 100 times better. They will also set you songs that reinforce a certain technique. These songs may be boring and tedious at first but they have a purpose and are usually and will help you develop as a singer. You don't have to take lessons from a live person, you can get some software such as Singing Coach ($113) and Singing Coach Unlimited ($123). They both are so great. But, no teachers won't belittle you. I would not recommend using software as your voice lesson teacher; a computer program (or even a distant "instructor") cannot see what you are doing and, thus, cannot help you properly. Just thought I'd throw that in there. It depends if they are a good teacher most singing teachers wont criticize you. Mine doesnt. A good teacher won't criticize you just for the sake of being mean. They'll point out things you can do better, and things you need to work on, but it should be with the intent of helping you become the best singer you can be, and they'll also point out when you do well, and when you're improving. Also, they'll likely have recitals that will help you get over being shy about performing. If you want to be serious about your singing you'll need to get a teacher at some point, since it's quite hard to improve on your own. Look around until you find one who's a good fit; you'll be glad you did. |
