Will singing lessons help my voice sound better? |
My voice is alright. But my dream is to be an acoustic musician, and you have to have a pretty good voice. Will singing lessons only help with breathing, tone, etc. or can it change the sound of your voice? The breathing and tone does change the sound of your voice. It you try singing lessons, your voice will change because the stratagies they use really help. it might help a little. if you can truly sing and u just want to perfect yea. You know if u can truly sing if your friends, teachers, or just strangers hear u sing and they give good feedback. If u can't sing at all don't waste your time bcuz its not going to help, some ppl just can't sing its not their thing. If its a hobby and u want to do it for fun then go for it...goodluck singing lessons will give you a more steady and controlled voice. if you already have a good voice now lessons would definitely not hurt. but the sound? everyone has a specific sound... that's probably not gonna change unless you decide to sing in a falsetto. it can help alot:) Maybe. By changing the way you breathe and the way you sing, you do change the way you sound. You learn how breathing from your diaphragm (I will never spell that right, by the way) produces a better sound than if you just take a normal breath. Lessons will also strengthen your vocal chords, creating a better sound and you'll have more control over them. Yes, it can change the sound of your voice. Not completely (if you're a solid alto, it won't make you a coloratura soprano), but a good voice teacher can help you get the best quality out of your voice you possibly can. Breathing and tone are all a part of that, but they can also help you support your voice and have a nice clean unforced sound. We could put it another way... If you continue using your voice with an untrained approach, you could damage the quality that you have now. Well a few years ago, my voice was horrible and people said to me "don't quit your dayjob". After doing vocal exercises for the past 5 years or so, people are telling me they think I sound awesome. I'm a rock singer, btw. I am realistic and I know that I can't sing as well as Michael Bolton or the top Idol contenders and my range isn't as good as theirs, but for rock music, I think I'm not that bad. So I think doing vocal exercises might change your life and certainly your voice. Note however that if you have a voice like Woody Allen, it's unlikely that you'll ever sound like Pavarotti. But you can improve a HUGE deal. Just remember that just singing isn't enough - you have to do vocal exercises. Seek out lessons, asap and good luck! |
