Singing? Help!?

Everybody says I have the most beautiful voice, and it's kind of my dream to become a singer/actress... but I get nervous in front of people... really nervous. And also, how can I get noticed? I was in the choir, and the teacher is horrible and we barely get time to sing, so that's not happening. And our drama club doesn't do musicals... how can I get noticed?

Like you and nearly every performer, I've been there. Performing in front of people is killer until you learn to turn the negative energy into positive energy. If you don't have the confidence FAKE IT!

Try these:

Go in prepared. The more prepared you are for an audition or performance the more comfortable you will feel.

Nervousness is all body chemistry. The more you do it the more your body gets used to it. Do anything. You don't have to start big. Sing for your family, friends, at church, at a club, and definitely audition and perform for everything you can.

Before you go on stage:
1. Don't eat a big meal
2. Stretch
3. Warm up your voice
4. Close your eyes and just block everything out
5. Tighten every muscle in your body, head to toe, and let it go all at once. Follow up with a deep breath

Before you go on, you can dare yourself to do well. There has got to be something you think is worse than singing in front of loads of people.

Stage presence is everything. If you鈥檙e nervous, no one has to know. Hold your head up, walk out with purpose and poise, once you get over it a little, making eye contact with your audience can be motivating. If you can't look at your audience, look through them.

Find a comfortable stance and just do what you love. Singing and Performing is FUN! Don't take a deep breath before you begin, instead swallow and let your nerves wash away.

You'll be fine. Mind over mater. It鈥檚 all psychological and attitude is everything.

Every performer makes huge mistakes during a performance or two. You know you messed up!...but the audience doesn't have to. Stay in character and cover yourself. If you forget the words just keep singing...anything. Half the audience has never heard the song before, the other Half isn't listening to the text directly.

School isn't the only way to get vocally involved. There a church choirs, community chiors, and private lessons. If your really ambitious you can start your own group.

Performing is the number one way for people to learn your face and voice. Helping others who are learning to sing is another great way to get people to see your dedication, hard work, and tallents.

Good luck and happy singing!

Take singing lessons, something to get the nerves out of you. try coffee shops (they usually have performers) and a lot of local theatres usually do musicals too.

I have the same dream. All you have to do is zone out the crowd. Focus on what you're doing. Pretend there is nobody there. Just you. Idk how you can get noticed.
Good Luck with everything!!

That's exactly how I am=] I can't give any exact advise, but what I'm doing is putting videos on youtube/ myspace. If you don't have one of those, just join outside classes. Ones that do have musicals and can get you noticed. Also, maybe look around for a community talent show. Don't get nervous though, if you've got it, flaunt it. Don't let anyone get to you because all you have to do is follow your heart. Good luck, and maybe we'll see each other in Hollywood=]

eat bananas before preforming in front of people. i know it sounds wierd, but they have potassium and potassium halps to calm the nerves

what helps me when i get noticed is to take a few deep breaths, talk w/friends, and just chill. a few tips: look over the audience, not in thier eyes. it looks the same, but it's easier for you. another thing, even if they're not there, picture the person who has always supported you, and pretend like you're singing only to them. to get noticed, just sing like crazy. join other choirs, at church or a community choir. join a band. enter contests, like solo and ensemble, enter talents shows, sing whenever you can. good luck!!!

Doing Kareoke will help you get over your fear. Gain stage presence. Most people there are going to give you praise and with that comes confidence.
Getting discovery is something that happens with determination and getting your name out everywhere

well i play viola so i know how it feels to play in frount of an audience.
i get reallly nerves and start shakeing alot! i can feel my whole body shiver.
but try to calm down when you sing and when you get shy and atart to sing to soft, just sing as loud as you can.then people won't be able hear you shaking in your voice.
well i hope i helpoeed:)
