Singing advice for a hopeful? |
I don't sing well, and I try not to sing at all, but I need some good advice. I sing to myself, and I'm not sure I have much potential, but I am looking for ways to improve my average voice. I hoping to be able to sing a medium of high and low. I am also think of starting of singing my rock songs (I'm a lyricist). I work really hard and I have come up with some songs my friends think are absolutely gorgeous, but i didn't know how to do screamo, or sing at all, frankly. Take up voice coaching lessons. 'Tone-deafness' is a combination of not using your voice properly, not listening to it correctly and confidence. Singing lessons will improve your voice significantly and help you to understand breathing techniques, the proper use of the diaphragm etc. There are singing teachers available in all disciplines from classical training to more contemporary styles like pop and rock, so have a hunt in your area. You should look up voice training in yellow pages. Bob Dylan cannot carry a tune. i had the same problem at first Try selling the songs if you don't think you can produce them. Maybe you should think more about writing and less on singing. Obviously a voice coach would be the best way. Professional coaches are very expensive. I learned to sing in a church choir, but any choir, or chorus will be a good place to start. I know you aren't into choir music, but it's the Very Best way to learn to control your vocal instrument... breathing... timing... hitting your notes.... So Much to Learn before you get into screamo techniques. Well, the main thing is confidence... if you're prepared to try, at least you can practice. And with practice comes improvement. But bear in mind, not all rock fans have a rock voice, in much the same way not all opera fans have an opera voice. Seriously, just practice on your own and let rip! You never know what you're truly capable of until you've given it your best shot! Give it up. Singing has become an epidemic and we have enough people into it today. |
