I need to have a good audition?

hey guys! so im auditioning for this big record deal in a little while, and im an okay singer, but ill be up again REALLY good singers. im hoping that i will stand out because of my stage presence and personality on stage.
any interesting/fun ideas to make my performance stand out?

Well, you are correct in knowing you must stand out. You are going to have to have some type of gimmick for them to remember you by. Who and what do you want to represent? If you want to be a rock singer, dress crazy. If pop, dress the part, etc. Have something on that you know hardly no one else would think of. If you are going for the pretty look, be as pretty as you can get. If you are going for the grunge look, any type that you want to represent...fit the description visually to the nine. JUST LOOK DIFFERENT from the rest.

A big mistake many singers make in auditioning is singing songs they like. You should only perform songs that your voice sound the best in, regardless of what is popular. Whatever song makes you THE LEAST nervous and fits your instrument the best is what you should sing. If you don't feel comfortable singing a popular song, DON'T sing it. Your nerves will just make the performance more shaky and uncredible.

Be pleasant and witty with the execs. Don't be stiff, and don't tell them you are nervous. Judges hate to hear that. Be charming and witty. Make sure when you perform, you relate to whomever you are performing for. Don't stand in one place with your eyes closed. Walk around or show some type of enthusiasm as you perform. Be the character you are singing and forget about yourself.

Don't allow anyone or anything make you loose focus. If a cat fell from the sky unto your feet, keep singing as if nothing just fell from the sky. LOL! Seriously, keeping your focus during a performance shows professionalism. That is another big thing they look for.

Lastly, just have fun. Don't look at it as an audition, look at it as a performance. If you go in that way, you will not feel more pressure. Always do some relaxation exercises like stretching before you sing in order to relax. Good luck to you and smile! You love to sing and show it!

go up there and whistle your song first. they'll be a little confused, but it'll ease the tension and they'll like your personality. i think someone did that on american idol in like the first season.

For an audition, the voice is the most important. Unless you are doing a comedy song, do not try any fun ideas to make your performance stand out. Don't forget a record deal means hearing your voice, not seeing you. So the voice is the most important part. If you are singing a musical theater song, that is when you could put some fun stuff in, but since you doing this for a record deal, the voice is what is important, not what you look like or the fun stuff.

Articulate (pronounce all words)
Make sure the song is in range, not to high not to low
make sure you are right on pitch , hitting each note right on.
Make sure you are breathing where it makes sense to breath/
Know the song backwards, words and music, so that you don't have to think about them/

And when you are singing, listen to the voice in your head and the music outside of your head/

Good luck

Walk in like James Cagney and circle around for a bit. Then raise your fingers like two loaded pistols and shoot them into the air. Do a cartwheel. Then say, "Any of you low down dirty rotten punks dare to cross me and you'll be drinking your meals through a straw for the rest of your days". Now SIT up, SHUT up, SIT still...and LISTEN. (pause)....to THIS! Then do the whistle thing, then your song. Take a bow and say, "Later Bitc**s" and walk out.
